The whole of last week we gathered for an ODSS training by Akili Dada with the intention of strengthening our leadership and organizational management capacities.
The training has been intensive with a focus on OCA which has enhanced our confidence in leading teams and surviving initiatives .
My key highlights from the training included:
Understanding donor motivations and behaviors to foster stronger connections.
Implementing efficient donor management systems to streamline data and enhance donor engagement.
Understanding different Leadership styles for different teams.
Mastering the art of grant proposal writing to secure essential funding.
What I took away from this training:
Fostering a donor-centric approach strengthens donor loyalty and enhances fundraising efforts.
Friend-raising when it comes to resource mobilization.

The fields of proposal writing, resource mobilization, donor relations, and donor management are often feared and intimidating to start-ups and CBOs still putting their structures in order. The fear is often due to several factors, including fear of rejection, history of rejection, limited experience and skills in proposal writing, limited donor information, and lack of meaningful networks.
This week,Akili Dada has brought together women CEOs for an ODSS training targeting organizations from the ASAL regions of Kenya, where we have had the opportunity to acquire knowledge tied to Organizational Strengthening on thematic topics of Resource Mobilization, Leadership hats, and managing teams, Financial management, Project management, Human Resource Management, Financial Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Communications and Branding, Board management and several other topics which have equipped us with skills necessary to Lead organizations effectively.
With these newfound skills, we are not only ready but eager to return to our communities, where we are committed to building stronger relationships with stakeholders, donors, and the community.
Cheers to a new error of writing successful grants.
Shoutout to Akili Dada and for bringing excellent facilitators and expertise to the training.

Despite State commitments, many women still lack access to quality services essential for their protection, and recovery, even when these services exist, they are underfunded, understaffed, or not of high quality.

Neoliberal tenets such as privatization have made essential services unaffordable and inaccessible to the poor and most vulnerable, majority of whom are women. We must demand an economic model that prioritizes access to these services.
