Why do most small businesses stay small?
Most businesses start and run on hope. But hope can only take you so far.
An average business owner thinks “I have built a website. Now, people will buy from me”
If you investigate further, they will give stupid answers.
>> How will you bring traffic to your fancy website? — “Umm…people will search for it?”
>> Who is your target customer? — “Idk….everyone?”
>> Why will people choose you, over your competitor? — “It’s their choice not mine”
>> How will you bring repeat business? — “I only need new customers…forget about the old ones”
>> How will you improve your product/service? — “It’s already perfect…”
They lack planning and strategy but they HOPE they will be successful. In business, you need a strategy, direction and thoughtful action.
Businesses which try to function on hope alone, go broke or stay small.

How can I start an online home business?
First, let me congratulate you for thinking about how you can create an opportunity to build a business from home.
There are many parts and pieces to starting a business, whether online or brick and mortar.
Before you go 100% into starting your online business, you need to get a clear picture of the type of business you want to have.
To help you get a clearer picture of the type of business you want to build, here are some steps to take:
Make a list of all of your business ideas.
Label them from the most passionate to the least passionate.
#1 is the business idea that lights you up the most.
Working with your #1 business idea, let’s break it down.
Describe your business or business idea.
What are you confused with when it comes to your business or about starting a business?
What does your current business structure look like?
Break down the idea and answer these questions…..
What problem do you want to solve?
Who do you want to work with?
How do you want to help them?
Why do you want to help them?
Where do you want to help them?
RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH!!!!
Research is often overlooked and very important. It answers so many questions for you and helps you develop your idea.
Confirm if your business idea is viable:
Are people currently paying for a product or service you would offer?
What are people looking for that is missing within your business idea?
A piece of advice that I often share is making sure to create the type of business you love. It should be a business you are passionate about and lights you up when you think and talk about it.
Don’t build a business idea around something you know you can do just because you may be good at it and think it will bring you some fast cash.
Of course, with the available technology, you could open a “business” tomorrow; however, I do not recommend this. You would miss the opportunity to build a sustainable business with a solid foundation with growth potential.
Once you have a clear idea of your business idea, it’s time to learn how to build a solid foundation for your business; business names, trademarks, contracts, policies, contracts, etc.
Please do not start with logos, brand colors, and building a website (this is phase 2 or 3).
Starting a business is exciting, scary, and fun all at the same time. I often refer to building a business is like building a house. If you don’t have a solid foundation and structure, your house won’t stand. The same goes for your business.
Best of luck with starting a business. Wishing you much success!
I would love to know what business you decide to start. Make sure you share that when you're ready.

What are some of the things you are never told when starting a business?
What are some things nobody tells you about starting a business? Alexandra Moroz's answer: Any business start-up needs lots of time and financial investment, hard work, and efforts. There are a lot of things that one should consider before starting a startup. * Your customer You need to define customer requirements and preferences. It’s crucial to know the c...

What’s the number one secret behind all of Jeff Bezos success?
Was it selling books?
His business model has changed.
Was it Amazon’s website and logo?
This has also changed over the years.
Was it the shipping?
Every other competitor can access the shipping companies.
Was it the marketing efforts?
Other companies have spent millions and haven’t attained this success.
Why is Amazon considered the world’s most innovative company in the world?
They are always pushing their boundaries to stay ahead of the market.
Why do they crush every industry they participate in?
They have set the standards incredibly high for most businesses.
So, what’s Jeff’s secret?
True customer obsession!
This is the key principle that keeps Amazon relevant, competitive, and growing.
Without this obsessive focus, all companies eventually stagnate and become irrelevant, start to decline, and ultimately die.
To answer your question:
Don’t define your business by the product you sell or by the way you sell it.
Instead, define your business by who you serve, not what you do or what you sell.
This has been the secret of Jeff Bezos:
Be customer-centric; NOT product-centric.
Every rule of running a successful business resumes in this obsessive focus on your customers.

Very great thoughts from the Richest man in Uganda (East Africa) - Sudir Ruparelia
We are entering into recession period globally and the exception is likely to be India and China with ~2% GDP growth in 2020 which is way below ~5 - 8% in the past several years.
For the benefit of all, I am sharing my perspective on such scenario on few aspects as below:
*What will change during the slow down:*
1. Spend on luxury will come down drastically
2. Long-term / Capital expenditure such as construction, technology will be almost cut to nil
3. Lifestyle expenditure such as salary, rent, infrastructure, entertainment will be minimised
4. Working capital will be under tremendous pressure. Businesses will go out of business especially those who are riding on borrowed working capital
5. New innovative business models will evolve
*What will NOT change during the slow down:*
1. People consumption on essentials will continue
2. Rise in Investment on ideas / technology solutions that will improve efficiency
3. Short-term trading businesses with healthy cash flow practices will thrive
4. Rise in investment on spiritual / self-learning practices
5. Value for money products / services will shine
*What you should do as an individual:*
1. Hold back any luxury / high risk investments where visibility of returns is difficult to predict
2. Minimise expenditure on the routine stuff - keep a watch on your lifestyle spend - ask the question, is it really necessary!
3. Develop yourself on improving competency and developing skills to become more sharper and efficient
4. Share the financial situation with your family members and educate them on the family financial position and the plans to improve
5. Invest - yes invest on the right things. History repeats. Take risks based on thorough research. This is not the time to follow tips.
*What you should do as an Entrepreneur:*
1. Take care of your employees - communicate more than ever. Be reasonable and transparent with them
2. Use the slow down to improve your processes / people
3. Invest in technology / systems that will accelerate your reach in adding value to your customers
4. Be frugal in working capital decisions and operating expenditure
5. Capital expenditure to be on hold unless there is clear visibility on the associated returns
Let us get smarter by helping ourselves and economy to bounce back stronger.
The planning for the coming foreseeable .🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

I always get asked this question by business startups, why should I pay myself when my business is still small and can't afford to pay?
This has always been my answer: if you work in your business of which you surely do then you are an employee and deserves to be paid. Even though you will pay yourself a lower amount compared to the market rate but pay yourself every month. And if your business doesn't have any cash then make sure your salary expense is always accrued and pay yourself once you get cash to clear the liability.
Read this quora answer from Brett Fox for more insight on why you should pay yourself a salary from your startup.

HOW DO ENTREPRENEURS THINK?
An employee goes to meet his or her doctor.
The doctor does a few checks and concludes that the problem is XYZ and suggests having some ABC and doing some DEF.
And so the employee buys some ABC and does some DEF.
—
An entrepreneur goes to meet his or her doctor.
The doctor does a few checks and concludes that the problem is XYZ and suggests having some ABC and doing some DEF.
The entrepreneur assumes the doctor is talking s**t. He or she goes straight online, calls a doctor friend, then gets a second opinion, and ultimately ends up doing a self-diagnosis.
Entrepreneurs challenge everything. Including their doctor.
