Time is running out and the stakes are high. 87% of Multinational Companies (MNCs) with a supply chain in Kenya have set emission reduction targets for their suppliers, asking for an average reduction of 35% by 2025. Difficult decisions will have to be made on the journey to net-zero and suppliers must move quickly to avoid losing business. Presently, Kenya-based suppliers are risking almost USD 4bn in exports if they don't cut carbon emissions in line with their biggest clients' net zero plans.
Suppliers cannot do it alone. MNCs will be essential in setting the pace and collaborating with smaller partners to make net zero a reality.
