It is with deep sorrow that I reveal the profound loss of my beloved father, his departure leaving an indescribable void. Despite my hopes for 2024, finding solace in the end of his pain is bittersweet.😭

As you all know by now I have become a care giver after we discovered my dad has Alzheimer’s.

Sasa I was gifted this book by one of my summer bunnies friend from the states.. Now the thing is if you all don know I have ADHD so am quiet a slow reader but I have challenged myself in 2024 to read this book cause it has very powerful information that would let my father live the rest of his life comfortably.

I recommend anyone going through the same to get this book because it also talks about how to prevent Alzheimer’s just by changing diet.

Part 2: 32 years ago after staying with Tom for a while, he advised that I go to Watford, where all of our Ngumo friends resided. I got a job in the region and lived with these folks for a while, so please tag anyone you know... I’ll give it a shot.

These friends served as my unwitting guinea pigs during my DJing apprenticeship. Throwback to the days when I hosted parties for them, each event a lively experiment as I navigated the intricacies of DJing. Trust me; they witnessed my musical evolution from my most awkward moments, to when I started to grasp the nuances of DJing.

Did you spot the turntables? Those weren’t your conventional professional mixing decks; they were domestic, and designed for household use. However, necessity sparked ingenuity, and I managed to make it work.

Oh, and on the right was Jackie, my girlfriend (or so I believed). To be honest, my focus on music and the pursuit of DJing excellence led me to fumble the football with Jackie. we drifted apart. I wonder where she is now. 🙈

P.S. Was the sweater I was wearing a self-fulfilling prophecy? It was like a prediction that was waiting to happen.

story

04/01/2024

Let me tell you about this guy! If had not been in my life, there would have been no DJ Pinye and no Legacy work, such as radio appearances, famous events, the beat, and so on. I can certainly claim that Kenya would be a very different country without Tom.

Tom was my best friend growing up, and when opportunity knocked, Tom found himself in the UK. Life was challenging to navigate without my dearest friend by my side. I reached a point where I realized college was not for me and, much to my parent’s dismay, I dropped out.

I was practically lost and soul-searching all during that period, trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. Thankfully, I was able to chat with Tom because he used to contact me frequently. After a long rant, something clicked in his head and he asked if I wanted to join him in the UK.

He said that jobs were accessible and that all that was required was tenacity and a desire to succeed. Even more astonishing was the fact that many of the jobs required little to no experience. I was filled with a motivation comparable to the one that is propelling Kenyans in droves to the Middle East, and I knew I had to leave my homeland to ensure my future.

Who was in charge of making the travel arrangements? Tom. Helped me book a 17K return flight with Air France. Who assisted with the passport application and costs? Tom. He enlisted the help of his father. Who paid for the additional trip expenses? Tom. When I arrived at the airport, who was there to greet me? Tom. And where did I stay, of course? At Tom’s house. He even assisted me in obtaining a work visa and finding my first job.

Tom knew I wanted to be a DJ, so he took me to Tottenham Court Road (equivalent to our Luthuli in Kenya). Shiney brand-new turntables caught my eye. What was remarkable was that, despite the high price tag, I realized that with a little planning, I could get them. It took some time, but I eventually got them, paving the way for my DJ Future.

TOM! I LOVE YOU FOR BEING THERE FOR ME 🥹🥹🥹 PS. Thank you for surprising me on New Years Eve 🙏🏾

As we say goodbye to this chapter, or 2023, I want to sincerely applaud each one of you for persevering through the hardships, savoring the successes, and accepting both the wins and the losses. Your tenacity is quite admirable.

May you have even more occasions to rejoice, grow, and learn in the upcoming year. Cheers to letting go of the things that no longer serve us and seizing the opportunities as well as challenges that lie ahead. I’m wishing you a happy, hopeful, and optimistic New Year with the prospect of a better future.

Here’s a toast to you and I extend my gratitude for sharing in this amazing adventure!

Help me celebrate the incredible and legendary Lipsync partner 🎉🏊‍♀️

Despite being an award-winning swimmer, I have to admit Mwalimu’s energy is so wild that keeping up is like trying to catch a tornado with a butterfly net! 😂

Thanks for the whirlwind that was 2023. December 31st? what a time to enter the world! P.S. Rachel, you keep calling me a “Mubaba” for being on the 5th floor? I’m patiently observing you climb up, one year at a time. 😜

🎁 Unwrap the ultimate Christmas present: a shiny 5K reward awaits the lucky soul who can hand over a pristine copy of “Itchin to Party”! 🕺💿 I wear many hats – CEO, DJ, and yep, “award-winning swimmer” – but let’s talk about the time I wore the Executive Producer and Recording Artist hat and went ahead to orchestrate Nairobi’s most iconic 2002 mixtape, “Itchin to Party” by the Skratchaholics

Imagine Gidigidi Majimaji, Mercy Myra, E-sir laying down freestyles hotter than ugali straight from the sufuria! 🎤 CDs vanished faster than earnings with the present taxes. Now, I’m on a mission for that vintage gem. Got the golden ticket? Your holiday bonus is ready! 🎄💰

Yesterday was a MESS! I’m still recovering..

So how did I do a the Kiambu (swimming) Masters? Videos loading…

Photos from DJ Pinye's post 29/11/2023

Swipe left to see the flyer for the Kiambu Masters Invitational Swimming championship. sent it to me and I thought it was a joke. I mean, I only started swimming in my 40s for health reasons. The only time I tried to swim as a kid in the 70s was as follows: Our school St Georges, had a deal with Nairobi Primary School for paying students to use their pool. A bus would come to collect the students to go swimming. Long story short, I sneaked into the bus, managed to get in the pool, was discovered and kicked out of the pool by the legendary Nairobi School swimming instructor. Anyone remember his name? 🤔

But then I heard from the staff at my swimming joint that this event is a big deal. They are already hyping me up, claiming victory is in the chlorine-scented air. 🎉 So, should I take the plunge? If you think I’m too old for this, check the fine print – there’s a category for my vintage crew (even if it’s listed last on the flyer). 👴 And you know me, I love a challenge. So I’m thinking of signing up. What do you think? Should I go for it? 😎

I’m officially on the “Road To Kiambu,” and I’ve got a front-row seat for all of you! Who’s joining my cheering squad? 📣 Get ready for some epic training journey videos – because, hey, we all need a good laugh, right? 😂
