When players give you their best in training, as a coach you're satisfied and the training is deemed successful.
The joy of a coach.
Thank you for those who gave their opinions through the week, WHERE DO WE START?
Every opinion is worthwhile to initiate the change that we want to see in Kenyan hockey.
I have for the past been thinking from whence to start this change, and I came to the realization that it really STARTS WITH ME. I am the one that needs to first change: of my mentality, the normal way of engaging in hockey issues, on the pitch as a player, as a coach, e.t.c
IT STARTS WITH ME and am on the road to change myself and then ONE PERSON AT A TIME.
See you next week for more.
Good morning fellow hockey enthusiasts. As promised, today we continue the journey to a promising future for our lovely sport hockey.
We have all encountered or used the GPS or Google maps. For you to successfully use this apps or arrive to your destination, it will ask you for your current location to be able to calculate the best route for you to take/start your journey.
Therefore, the question for us would be, where can we initiate or begin to make changes that will transform our Kenyan hockey? Because everyone at the moment wants changes, but WHERE DO WE START?
Top-bottom, bottom-top, Union first then clubs or clubs first then union, team first then individuals or individuals first then team, sponsors first then union/clubs or vice versa, senior team or junior team or is it a combination of all these?
WHERE DO WE START??
Remember it is an interactive forum. All your opinions are valuable to us and I believe will help us make that initial step to greatness. DO NOT BE SILENT, we need your opinion.
WHERE DO WE START??
Good morning ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to Hockey COACH BARNU hockey page where we shall interact on matters hockey and sports in general.
Looking forward to engage us for purposes of improving the hockey standards in Kenya and beyond. Your contributions to this will be highly appreciated. Remember, IRON SHARPENS IRON".
We shall begin from this Wednesday to tackle issues affecting hockey in Kenya and how we would wish to improve henceforth.
Hope to see you then.
This week with the development team we shall work on the reception techniques.
Good reception is key in how a player and team progresses without breaking the flow of the game.
Emphasis on forearm reception, body posture when receiving, in motion reception and reception under pressure.
All the best team.
This week we continue with the boys to work on the passing and reception techniques. Passing techniques:
- push pass (short distance)
- bunt pass (short distance but higher intensity than push pass)
- short grip pass (longer pass with moderate intensity)
We insist on the body posture during the passing (for power and precision) and reception (for better trapping and ball control).
All the best boys.
This week's achievers in our training sessions. The character of these two lads are almost similar. They are usually quite not trying to seek attention. Only with a keen eye will you see their efforts as they take in every instruction and try to apply during the exercises.
This week we did technical skills: 3-D, dummy, and dummy+3-D. Passing and reception: push pass, bunt pass and short-grip pass.
Left photo with blue t-shirt and yellow short is Ian and photo on the right with yellow t-shirt is Kevo. Applause to these two lads as they continue to master the technical skills.
There are c'mon faces in all the photos, Kogo and Gabu, the ever smiling teammates in red and blue tshirts. The entire team behind them also had fantastic training sessions this week.
IT'S A WRAP AS WE LOOK FORWARD TO NEXT WEEK'S TRAINING SESSIONS AND ACHIEVERS.
Welcome all to COACH BARNU hockey page where we interact on matters concerning sports.
