"All KCPE 2019 candidates must join form one" Says Prof. Maghoha.
The government wants 100% transition into secondary schools. Our public High Schools cannot accommodate this huge number. More to that the result will be overcrowded classrooms which will greatly affect the learning process.
This means that if you need quality education for your child, private schools are your solution number one. Don't wait for circumstances to push you to the corner. Book your position as early as now.

Who is better placed to check the discipline of our children? Parents or teachers?

Traditionally, it has been the role of the parent to ensure that the discipline of the child is enhanced. However, due to modernization, parents have become more busy with employment life and have insufficient time to learn about their children and discipline them when and where necessary.
By the time the parents realize the true colors of their children, they are already out of hand sometimes beyond repair
Most are times when such parents end up blaming the teacher claiming lack of responsibility on the part of the teacher owing to the fact that the child has been with the teacher for more than 9 months out of 12 months in an year and even then, they only have an hour or two with the child during the three months when the child is at home.
Should we accept the reality that the teacher is better placed to instill discipline in children? Should we give teachers more power to check and correct indiscipline cases?

Education is what remains after you forget what you were taught in school. It goes past the organs of a grasshopper you learnt in school. It goes past the algebra you used to hate in high school. It goes past all the many formula that you memorized from primary level to tertiary levels.
All the same, no matter how useless you think these things were, they all contributed towards understanding who you are and what you are capable of doing in an effort towards moulding the person you are.

Student Indiscipline is the biggest single hindrance to student success in school. Indiscipline stems from a child's upbringing. It roots from what has been planted in them over time in the course of life. The Bible says that we should teach our children the right ways so that even when they grow up, they'll never leave them. Some parents have shifted the entire role to teachers without notice. By the time we realise that, it's already too late and there is little that can be done to save the situation. It is absolutely important for parents to keenly follow up with the lives of their sons and daughters, to notice the slightest change in behaviour and act accordingly. Be friends with your sons and daughters, mentor them and inspire them.
All the same, if the parent is indisciplined, there is no remedy for their children's indiscipline. Even an apple doesn't fall far from it's tree. Only God's intervention and mercies can help the situation. Be a good role model to your children.
If a student has a good foundation in discipline, it becomes easy for the teacher to note the slightest of deviations, and offer remedy immediately. Such a student can become a good learner with time. Let's be responsible parents able to discipline our sons and daughters and mould them into people we want them to be.

125,746 CANDIDATES scored C+ and above in KCSE 2019 exams Prof Magoha announces; 627 candidates scored grade A.

18/12/2019

As we anxiously wait for the results to be announced, we urge all parents to have an open heart to receive their children results just as they are. Do not confront your children because of their performance. Instead, be there to encourage them, to comfort them and to help them explore carreers they can pursue with the grades they got. Remember that a dog rewarded for it's good behaviours will learn more than a dog punished for their bad behaviours. A bad tongue towards your child is a recipe for disaster on your child. Their brains may not be strong enough to stand confrontation. Some of them will hate themselves, de-mean themselves and maybe lack purpose of life which is another ingredient for a worthless life and lowered self esteem which are key catalysts for suicidal thoughts.
Whether they pass their exams or fail, they'll not cease to be your children and life has to continue. Take this chance to either build or destroy the life of your child.
Remember a parents tongue is a powerful tongue with a capacity to bless or to curse. To build or destroy the life of their child or create an opportunity to build a lasting parent-child relationship.
We need our children for our tommorrow is in the hands of the young generation.

With the introduction of the Competency Based Curriculum, alot of people are excited and hopeful of the role Education has in transforming this great nation. However, majority of Kenyans are still in the dark with regard to the framework and contents of the Competency Based Curriculum commonly known as CBC.
