Today was a good day at . We mounted a medical evacuation of Joyce who was injured & in critical care in Albania since Aug 2022. Grateful to God for the chance to make a difference! I met with Recruitment Agencies based in Mombasa County together with the team at Diaspora_KE. A big part of stabilizing the migrant labor concerns in the Middle East in particular, is working closely with recruitment companies to ensure safe and ethical movement of Kenyans to the diaspora. Dialogue is key.

In my discussions with Co-op Bank Kenya today, we explored opportunities for Kenyans abroad to save, invest, bank for their SACCOS, etc. I was glad to hear of their repatriation insurance products and other products specifically for the diaspora.

Connecting Kenyans with international jobs is a shared mandate of and the Ministry of Labour. PS Geoffrey Kaituko and I are working closely to help alleviate the unemployment problem through int’l jobs.

I received a courtesy call from Danson Mukile
where we discussed ways of enhancing engagement of consular services with Kenyans in the Diaspora.

Met with the EAC PS Mr. Abdi Dubat where we discussed the EAC diaspora policy - a process that began before the creation of our State Dept. We explored how our respective state departments can better serve Kenyans in the EAC, as well as moving forward with the regional integration agenda.

I joined the delegation from the Ministry of Labour & Social Protection led by CS with her counterpart and other KSA officials in a series of meetings to discuss the contributions of Kenyans in the Diaspora towards KSA economy. The discussion included opportunities for Kenyans to work in increasingly professional categories of the economy, and the changes within KSA laws & policies to better protect migrant workers' rights. Distressed Kenyans in KSA can reach the call centre toll free number 19911. Chargés d'affaires@romato hosted us at the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh where we exchanged ideas on best practices in diaspora policies, migrant labor protections and international job sourcing & management.The day ended with a cup of Kenyan chai together with members of the Senate committee on labour and social welfare led by Senator Julius Murgor and Ambassador Peter Ogego with the team at the Kenyan embassy at Riyadh.
