Some people are mad at you for choosing peace over drama!

06/12/2023

When misfortune or something bad befalls someone who left you, treated you badly, or does not agree with you. It is not because of you. It is not karma.

Make una rest with this childish thinking that anyone who leaves you must suffer.

I nor know wetin dey give una dis feelings say the whole universe go stagnate for una matter?

You never offend person before?

Abeg make una knockout

06/12/2023

Stop overlooking disrespect just because you want to be understanding. Any time you let things slide in order to keep the peace, you start a war inside. You may appear polite and agreeable, but one day, you will explode. And then you will be called dramatic and short-tempered.

Your body wasn't built to carry bile. Learn to address things the moment they happen. Assert your boundaries at the time someone crosses them. Feel the discomfort, but speak up anyway.

When you set limits, are you rejecting the person? Far from it.
Boundaries are the middle ground from which I can love both you and me simultaneously. It's the balance upon which I can connect with you without disconnecting with me.

Anyone who responds angrily at your boundaries doesn't want you to love yourself. They want you for a resource, not a relationship.

People who love you want you to take care of yourself. They want you replenished and comfortable even as you attend to their requests.

Anyone who takes your no as a personal rejection was not meant to be in your life to begin with.

FALSE CEILING - Should you or not?
False ceiling is an interior design element used to enhance the aesthetics of your interiors and thereby the beauty of your home. Things have changed a lot from the times when false ceilings were considered part of office room décor. They are now an inevitable part of urban home interiors and the trend is here to stay.

In this post, let’s find out more about false ceilings and decide whether you should have one in your home!

WHAT IS A FALSE CEILING?
Also known as Dropped ceiling, suspended ceiling, grid ceiling, T bar ceiling, false ceilings have been in use in Japan from as early as the 15th century. Modern day false ceilings are nothing but a secondary ceiling done below the main ceiling. There are various reasons for which you use a false ceiling, but the most important one is for its aesthetic appeal.

At the end of this article are pictures of False Ceiling works done at our projects

When should you use false ceiling?
As mentioned earlier, the primary reason for using a false ceiling is to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the interiors of your building. However, in addition to the sophistication that it offers, the false ceiling has several functional advantages too. Since the false ceiling reduces the height of the building, the cost of heating or cooling such a room would be considerably lower than that of an ordinary room.

Furthermore, the use of false ceiling creates an additional layer between the two ceilings. Air fills this gap and prevents overheating the room.

Choose false ceilings only when the ceiling of your building is high. Normal ceiling height is about 2.9 – 3m. Never add a false ceiling for low height rooms, as it would make the room appear smaller and claustrophobic.

Popular False Ceiling Materials
A variety of materials are now available in the market now for false ceilings. Here are a few popular options.

GYPSUM – Gypsum is the most popular false ceiling material, due to its light weight, high durability, and strength. They are available in large sized sheets, thereby reducing the number of joint lines required to cover the room.

Plaster of Paris – This is a very cost-effective false ceiling material. POP is available as a powder that hardens on contact with water. For the same reason, PoP can be moulded into any desired shape. It is very easy to paint a PoP ceiling, as paint settles very well on PoP. However, use of PoP should be done only by skilled labour as the ratio of water and PoP mix plays a key role in the final outcome. PoP gives a classy look to your living rooms and bedrooms, especially when used in combination with wood or glass.

Wood – For elegance and sophistication, wood is the go-to option in false ceilings. Wooden panels in combination with PoP or gypsum ceilings can also be used for the contrast look. However, wooden ceilings are very expensive.

Fibre – Fibre tiles are available in standard sizes and is best suited for office spaces and showrooms. It is very budget friendly and provides very good noise and heat resistance.

Glass – You may use plain, stained or carved glass as false ceilings. Transparent plain glass provides a view of the surroundings and sky above, while the colourful stained and carved glass adds glamour to your spaces. However, glass is an expensive option and requires higher amount of care.

Metal – Galvanized Iron and Aluminium when designed well (eg. Lattice design), make excellent false ceilings. They are more suited for large spaces.

How is the false ceiling fixed?
The height at which the false ceiling is to be installed is determined first and a marking is made on the wall. Steel framework is screwed into the wall. Grids are then placed in the framework. It is optimal to use 1.5ftx1.5ft grids to give adequate support to the false ceiling materials. The heavier the material that you plan to use, the stronger the grid should be.

Though wider grids might get you a cost reduction, it’s usage not advisable as it may cause the false ceiling board to sag in the long run. In any case, do not let the grids to be spaced wider than 2ftx2ft.

From the various junctions in the grid, connections to the roof are made using steel rods. They are connected using anchor bolts. This process helps to avoid sagging due to the weight of the board.

Once the grid work is complete, the electrical points are done, after which the board is fixed to the grid. Boards are available at many sizes and so you might have to stick them together at various joints. A grid sticker is used for this purpose.

Apply putty and paint for a seamless finish.

Designs
Layered design – False ceiling can be designed in a single layer or multi-layer. The single layer is the most used option thanks to its minimalistic design. For those who wish to experiment with designs, the multi layered option is a great choice. This is a very versatile option, and you may experiment with various colours, patterns, textures, lighting, and combinations of materials

TRAY or RECESSED ceiling – In this type of design, the central part of the ceiling is higher than the edges to make it look like an inverted tray. Usually, a groove runs along the perimeter of the tray. LED strip lights can be placed here to create a lighting effect where the source of light is not visible.

COFFERED False ceiling- Coffers are sunken square or rectangular boxes that are fixed into a ceiling.

Where can false ceilings be used?
You may use false ceilings in your living spaces, bedrooms, bath, kitchen or office rooms.

Advantages
AESTHETICS – A sure shot reason to grab eyeballs.
Hide wiring, roof beams etc – If your room has several exposed wiring or have projected structural beams along the roof slab, use of false ceilings is a cool way to hide them out of sight and give a neat look to the room. You may also install ducts, AC vents and pipes in the space between the real and false ceiling.
Make the room look cosy – False ceilings lower the height of the room, thereby giving it a snug and cosy feel. However, note that it should not be used for low height rooms.

ACOUSTICS – The air cavity between the real and false ceilings provide good sound insulation. Improves the acoustics of the room by reducing noise and echo and is therefore a perfect design element for AV room, home theatre etc. Materials like gypsum provide excellent sound proofing.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY – Reduces the room height by about 8 inches thereby reducing the power required for heating and cooling. The insulation provided by the air trapped between the ceilings helps to reduce the heat in summers and cold in winters.

NEW AVENUES TO ADD AMBIENT LIGHTING – False ceiling can be done in a variety of ways, opening up new ways for bringing in light to your room. With false ceilings, you get the flexibility to play around with your ceiling lighting in accordance with the décor of your room.

Disadvantages
Reduces the height of the room by about 8 inches, and so should never be used for low height rooms.
Tough to fix roof leakages and water seepages.
Maintenance
False ceilings require extra maintenance when compared to the normal roof ceiling. Make sure you inspect the materials used for the ceilings periodically for dust, wear and tear, cracks, or fungal growth. In the case of wiring or AC ducts placed between the real and false ceilings, they should also be checked periodically.

On the evening after my childhood pal’s sister got married, I stayed back to help him inspect those clearing canopies and other items used in the wedding reception. Both trad and wedding reception was held in their big compound. Later that night, I sat with him at one end of the compound as we discussed over a jar of palm wine. His parents were discussing not too far from us.

He looked towards his parents’ position and told me, “Beck, my sister was always in my mother’s hands while growing up. She never wanted anyone to carry her. Even as an adult, mum knows everything about her.”

I nodded. “Hmmm”

He continued, “My father has sat in that position every time we come home in this compound. Growing up, I often used a straw to drink from his palm wine while he was receiving the night breeze and looking at the moon. He often flogged me whenever he noticed and told me to wait till I grew up. But I liked the taste, so I found ways to steal it. But look at me now, a full jar of palm wine is here, and I don’t have the urge to drink as much.”

I took a sip from my glass and allowed his words to sink in because they meant much more than he said. Then, finally, it dawned on me that life is in stages, and you need to calm down if need be. There is always a process to every good thing that comes and lasts for a long time.

Growth takes time, and life is never easy for anyone. Sometimes you may need to delay fulfilling certain urges like showing off to save up some more, earn some more or put in the necessary work to get something going. But, do not think you are wasting your time. Like my friend, one day, you will realize you will have full access to everything you’ve ever craved for.

We were still talking about the men who took centre stage at the ceremony, given the calibre of the family his sister married into. His parents walked up to bid us goodnight, and his mother jokingly said, “I hope you will spend more time with us before getting married and facing your own family.”

We all laughed, but we got the message in her words. Time takes care of a lot of needs and desires. So give yourself time while you build and grow.

Till we get to the Promised Land, I shall be waiting for when you will pass me a glass of water and thank God for the gift of grace for the race.

People's Court
THIS WORLD SHOULD JUST END. I AM TIRED OF THE EVIL 😭

Mrs Udeme Akpan travelled out on official duties. She was expected to spend 5 days but as fate would have it, the programme only took 3 days. Since she could not reach her husband on phone, she decided to return home unannounced.

At home, her children told her that their father had a female visitor the moment she left and that the lady has been with them since then. On hearing this, she became so furious and jealous.

Learning the lady was in the visitor's room, she peepped: lo and behold, the lady was there; even putting on her wrapper. She quietly went to the kitchen and boiled water in her very big kettle. As the water was boiling, her husband drove in.

The husband went straight to the visitor's room calling out: 'MY LOVE I'm home.' not knowing his wife was also around.

The wife was even more angered when she heard that and said to herself 'today, God must receive 2 visitors.'

She took the hot water she boiled in a big kettle which had already reached 100 degree centigrade and made garri (ÈBÀ) with it for three of them - Husband, Herself and the Mother In-Law in the Guest room, while children ate Noddles.

I was dating a guy, when I got pregnant his parents forced him to deny the pregnancy then they sent him to the United States leaving me with the pregnancy. 2 months later I met a guy who decided to be with me even though I was pregnant with someone else. He supported me right through birth. After giving birth, he enrolled me in a training center and paid for it all. It's been 5 years since we've been together. My whole family knows him, he plans to gift me in 3 months. But the problem is my baby daddy is back. He has apologized to me and is ready to take me back with his child. I confess I'm still in love with him, he might take me to the states with him, this is an opportunity for me. I want to go back with him but I'm afraid to hurt the other. How do you make him understand that he doesn't feel betrayed and hurt? It's true that he made a lot of sacrifices for me, but I must not be a hypocrite towards him, because in my heart he is not my kind.

Give your humble advice.

HOW TO KNOW A KIND MAN.

He’s kind to others not just you. Money is NOT kindness. There are several acts of kindness where you don't have to spend a dime.

Know the difference between being kind and money. There's a big distinction otherwise you'll assume that because a man spends money on you, he is kind.

Kindness is putting your interest at heart and doing nothing to hurt your feelings, doing nothing to hurt you mentally, emotionally and verbally, being considerate of your thoughts and well being and would never put you in harm's way.

Kindness extends not just to you but to others.

Again, KINDNESS IS NOT GENEROSITY. KINDNESS IS NOT MONEY!!!

My Encounter With A Toxic Landlord

Before you think of moving into that beautiful apartment, think of the mental and emotional state of the owner.

Few years ago, I was homeless and jobless and I needed to pitch my tent somewhere and start something doing. Asaba was my choice, at least a distance away from family and friends would reduce pressure. A cosy yet affordable 2 bedroom apartment was good too. I paid the rent including agent, agreement and caution fees. And provided my details as honest as was required by the agreement. Two weeks after I moved into this apartment, the landlady released the 7 demons in her. read below

It is said that three people were sentenced to death by guillotine, and they are a religious scientist - a lawyer - a physicist
At the moment of the ex*****on, the (religious scholar) came forward and put his head under the guillotine, and asked him: Is there a last word you would like to say?
He (the religious scholar) said: God... God... God... He is the one who will save me
And then they lowered the guillotine, and the guillotine came down, and when it reached the head of the religious scholar, it stopped. The people were astonished and said: Release the religious scholar, for God has spoken his word.. and the religious scholar has escaped.
The role of the lawyer came to the guillotine.
They asked him: Is there a last word you would like to say?
He said: I do not know God as a religious scholar, but I know more about justice... justice... justice... justice is the one who will save me.
And the guillotine came down on the lawyer's head, and when it reached his head, it stopped. The people were astonished, and said: Release the lawyer, for justice has spoken, and the lawyer has survived
Finally, it was the turn of the physicist.
They asked him: Is there a last word you would like to say?
He said: I do not know God like a religious scholar, and I do not know justice like a lawyer, but I know that there is a knot in the rope of the guillotine that prevents the guillotine from descending.
So they looked at the guillotine and actually found a knot that prevents the guillotine from descending, so they fixed the knot and lowered the guillotine on the physicist's head and cut off his head.
Learn to keep your mouth shut sometimes!
Even if you know the truth.
It's smart to be stupid in some situations.

A husband said to his wife: I miss my family, my brothers and their children, I hope you will prepare lunch tomorrow, and I will invite them today, since a long time ago we did not meet.
THE WIFE: (with a sigh) God willing, it will be good.
THE HUSBAND: I will invite my family then.

The next morning, the husband went to work, and at one o'clock he came home, and said to his wife: Did you cook lunch? My family will come in an hour.
THE WIFE: No, I did not cook; Because your family are not strangers, and they should eat what is in the house.
THE HUSBAND: God forgive you, why didn't you tell me yesterday that you won't cook and about an hour they will arrive, what should I do?
THE WIFE: Call them and apologize to them, they are not strangers, they are your family
The husband left the house upset. After a few minutes, there was a knock at the door of the house and the wife got up and opened the door. Lo and behold! It was her family - her father and their children were the people at the door!
Her father asked, "Where is your husband?"
She replied: He left a little while ago.
Her father said, "Yesterday, your husband invited us to lunch with you today. Is it possible for him to invite us and leave the house?"
The wife was stunned by the news, and began rubbing her hands, puzzled that the food in the house was not befitting her family but her husband's family.
She called her husband and said to him: Why didn't you tell me that you invited my family for lunch?
THE HUSBAND: My family and your family, there is no difference
She said to him: Please bring ready-made food with you, there is no food at home
The husband said: I am now far from home and your family are not strangers. Feed them from the food in the house as you wanted to feed my family...

It pays to treat all with equity and love.

A very good lesson about arguing with someone that enjoy living a lie!

“The donkey told the tiger, "The grass is blue."

The tiger replied, "No, the grass is green ."

The discussion became heated, and the two decided to submit the issue to arbitration, so they approached the lion.

As they approached the lion on his throne, the donkey started screaming: ′′Your Highness, isn't it true that the grass is blue?"

The lion replied: "If you believe it is true, the grass is blue."

The donkey rushed forward and continued: ′′The tiger disagrees with me, contradicts me and annoys me. Please punish him."

The king then declared: ′′The tiger will be punished with 3 days of silence."

The donkey jumped with joy and went on his way, content and repeating ′′The grass is blue, the grass is blue..."

The tiger asked the lion, "Your Majesty, why have you punished me, after all, the grass is green?"

The lion replied, ′′You've known and seen the grass is green."

The tiger asked, ′′So why do you punish me?"

The lion replied, "That has nothing to do with the question of whether the grass is blue or green. The punishment is because it is degrading for a brave, intelligent creature like you to waste time arguing with an ass, and on top of that, you came and bothered me with that question just to validate something you already knew was true!"

The biggest waste of time is arguing with the fool and fanatic who doesn't care about truth or reality, but only the victory of his beliefs and illusions. Never waste time on discussions that make no sense. There are people who, for all the evidence presented to them, do not have the ability to understand. Others who are blinded by ego, hatred and resentment, and the only thing that they want is to be right even if they aren’t.

When IGNORANCE SCREAMS, intelligence moves on.”
