What You Need to Know:

Nekesa single handedly staged a high class football tournament in her home town in Kimilili in December 2023 that brought his name to the limelight.
She has been part of many community engagement and development programs especially in Kimilili Ward.
She says she has not declared interest in any political seat but will continue to support the community even if it means for politicians to take it political.

We got an opportunity to find our way into the kitchen and have a look at the meals as they were being prepared. The interest was to know how and when they will be ready to be served. Shockingly, the kitchen was full of plates and people had started taking their share little by little, Kimilili Ward has got a new cook and friend in a very young but promising girl child, named after a season of bumper harvest , Nekesa. Annabel is her first name, a total orphan who lost her parents in a very tragic road accident but took up their responsibilities which she seems to outdo most!

Few meters from Bahai market, on your way to Matili Technical Training Institute, branching right just after the Junction to Chelekei, we bumped into a happy looking Annabel Nekesa in her village attires, with around ten or so neighbors if our mathematics was wright chewing the local grown surgacane famously reffered to us “MIWA NGUMU.” Since we couldn’t want to disclose our identity, the camera was not an option to walk with and understanding her values, we couldn’t want to disrupt her good moments with her neighbors.

The welcoming was one of it’s own, we remained optimistic that our host knew who we are since such only happens to good and very close friends who have been part for a long time. To make it even open to us, the “area mukasa” knew us and she was amazed at seeing this untill she was forced to ask if we had met before. Surprisingly, She said a firm No while smiling. It is here that we got a chance to interact with the person whose name has become a hotcake in Kimilili...

As recently reported by Citizen TV, out of the now completed 12 storey building, only two were said to be out of danger.
Barasa's allies led by Dr. Soita have come out strongly condemning the report terming it as Normal Media heresay .
Ford Kenya National Youth Coordinator,Wanjala Sakwa also expressed dissatisfaction with the report.

The Media has recently been having a conversation that seems not to be ending any time sooner, a conversation whose genesis is Kimilili Constituency, one about the over 10 Storey Buildings constructed under the patronage of the now MP, Hon. Didmus Barasa.

Hitting headlines in the royal-media owned Citizen TV, it was reported that among the 12 Storey-classrooms constructed by Hon. Didmus Barasa, area MP, only 2 appeared to be in good condition at the time of “scrutiny.” However, local leaders led by Dr. Norman Allan Soita have expressed dissatisfaction and termed the report as “Norman Media Hearsay.”

Dr. Soita has defended MP Didmus Barasa and assured residents not to be worried about what the media was reporting on what he says is normal cracks any building can have. Dr. Soita states that such normalcy can’t be a reason to put the buildings on caution for use.

“ A few cracks here and there on the walls of a building is never a sign of weakness of that building. Our Kimilili buildings were approved by structural engineers before allowing pupils to occupy them. I request the media to be scientific in their reporting, and not rely on political hearsay…”

~Dr. Norman Soita on the recent reports on the state of Kimilili CDF buildings.

On his part, speaking in a funeral at Matili RC Primary MP Didmus Barasa said that the news around the buildings is politically sponsored by people who want to stand in his way up to becoming Bungoma Governor which he assured residents of dealing with it and everyone who stands in his way.

Barasa preached optimism and affirmed his commitment to doing more and better as he prepares...
