Tales of Knots
Crochet Designer offering both free and premium patterns to reignite your creativity!
Do I have a ton of WIPs to finish? Yes. Did I start a new one anyway? Also yes. š
Are you team multiple WIPs, or just work on 1 at a time?
What do YOU do when you donāt meet gauge? Have you tried all the steps above, including my ālast resortā? š¤
Let me know in the comments if you know all about the golden loop, or want to know more about it!

The very first garment I made after learning to crochet was this toddler sweater.
Did it fit? Or course not š
The only advice I had seen regarding gauge at that point was to simply change your hook size, and I didnāt even know the yarn weight of the āpretty coloursā I had chosen for the project!
Did it put me off crochet? Unfortunately yes at the time, but Iām glad I didnāt wait too long to pick my hook back up.
Have you ever been put off crochet? What was the reason, and did you find your way back?
Swipe to the end to see my face when the wind blew over my camera stand! š
I FINALLY got around to taking some finished photos of my Moonflower Bolero cropped cardigan. Itās the perfect transitional spring make, particularly on days with a slightā¦ umā¦ breeze! š
Itās a fitted, lacy, cropped raglan design with a rounded front, plenty of customisation options AND bust shaping!
The pattern is free on my blog and features a FULL YouTube video walkthrough.
Just comment WINDY if you want the links!
Anyone got any tips for posing in front of a camera by yourself? I got more than a few funny looks from my neighbours! š
When you just want to jump right in and get started MAKING the thing, but you know you need to do due diligence and swatch and math and swatch some more firstā¦
Iāll get there. The math will math, the spreadsheets will magically work out, the design multiples will play nicely together, the pattern will write itself, and then I can just get to sitting down in a quiet corner with the yarn and a hook. Right? Right?!
Whatās the part of making YOU least look forward to?
Yarn is Divina worsted by , provided for this design as part of the campaign.
Why do I do this to myself?
I literally have only a few rows left of this sleeve to finish, and then itāll be good to go. But I always procrastinate finishing a project offā¦
Does anyone else do this? š¤
Am I hesitant to finish working on something I was enjoying? Am I putting off weaving in the ends? Is it just the dreaded curse of sleeve island? I honestly have no idea. But Iām putting this photo here to keep me accountable lol, and hopefully Iāll be posting the finished photo soon!
The free crochet pattern for this Moonflower Bolero is on my site along with a full video tutorial, head to my stories for the link if you want to start one of your own!
I caked these up right before Spring Break, so you might have already seen a few stories of what Iāve been making with them. I posted my progress today; the Richmond Shawl from is coming along nicely!
My plans got a little derailed today when I realised my youngest didnāt have school. (I actually ended up impromptu-posting our day in my stories if you want to take a peek!) I always make sure I have a project on the go that isnāt work-related so that I can get in a few stitches here and there when I have to be present with the kids.
āSupervise-kids-and-crochetā doesnāt quite roll off the tongue, but itās when I get most of my stitching time in lol!
Do you get to crochet much out and about? Or do you get most of your crafting time in during the evenings in the comfort of home?
Donāt get me wrong, I get a huge boost out of finishing a WIPā¦ but sometimes itās also from just the simple pleasure of having your hook and yarn match š
Just wait til you see what Iām making with this gorgeous colourway!
Iām sad that our false Spring turned back into winter, 75F one day and snow the next was quite the temperature plummet! Iām still firmly in Spring mode in my head though, and this yarn definitely is giving me all the fruits and berries vibe!
Itās Swish DK from , 100% merino wool and Iām loving working with it! ā¦and today is the LAST day to get 20% off your ENTIRE order on their site with the exclusive code LOVECROCHET. If thereās anything youāve had your eye on recently, snap it up quickly before the code expires tonight!
You might also see their fun Leap Year promotion, 29 items for 50% off. That includes these great Dot hooks, and theyāre currently only $15 for the full set! Theyāre really comfy to hold and are the perfect length for my hand, not too pointy and not too rounded, a real Goldilocks hook for me š¤© If youād like to try them too Iāll leave the š in all the usual places!

Iād love to know, how much benefit do you find YouTube tutorials that walk you through a pattern? Do you find them essential, helpful, or just something extra to have if you get stuck but you wouldnāt watch them otherwise? š¤
Have you heard the news?! The amazingly stunning Ophire Co. crochet hooks are now available over at ! š„³ (and psst, theyāre an absolute bargain!)
Ashlieās solution to everyoneās worst fear - crochet hooks broken in transit - is nothing short of genius! These protective tubes with foam inserts donāt just keep them protected to your doorstep either; I actually keep my hooks in these on my desk as they look so good too! No more tears from hooks rolling onto the floor in a distracted moment š©
The limited edition Azure Shimmer hooks (-> swipe to see them!) are available now over at crochet.com, check out the š in all the usual places, and Iāll add to my stories too!
Comment below and tag we crochet to let them know what other colours they should be stocking!

Not gonna lie, sometimes I donāt get past the first part š«
Any tips on how to get motivated in the morning after the craziness of getting all the kids out the door to school (copious amounts of caffeine aside)?
Favourite thing about Fall? The sheer number of fabulous wearables that work up in no time at all!
This is the Wanderer Cowl, a beginner-friendly easy pattern that uses 3 skeins of Wander yarn. It features a fun yet simple fade thatās worked in the round so there are no ends to weave in, and is seamed together with a twist.
Grab the pattern from my Ravelry or Etsy store and let me know what 3 colour fade youād choose?
Asked my friends what I should write for a caption, (this creative block is real!!) and one of them suggested I talk about how I choose my coloursā¦
To which I responded āerr but I just send you guys loads of combo photos and get you to pick!ā š
Anyone else? Tag your ācolor committeeā and let them know how much you appreciate them lol!

I just love the way these colours worked up together! Anyone else got Autumn on the brain? šš»āāļø
Thank you to for providing the yarn and hook for the project; I used Wander yarn in Midnight, Laguna, and Thatch, 2 skeins of each.
Couldnāt post last night as we were away camping with no signal, but Iāll still share this preview of how good the colors look all worked up together before sharing the pattern later this afternoon! š
Wander yarn in Midnight, Laguna, and Thatch. š
Do your family camp? Iām more of a hotel-and-indoor-pool person myself, but Iāll give it a go every once in a while š
I have such a hard time choosing colours, I always seem to second guess myself right up until the point where I have to commit. I guess I just like all the colours.
Except ugly yellow. That will never be welcome š
Thank goodness for friends who humour me and let me externally process every possible combination š you ladies are invaluable!
Can you tell what it is yet?
Something new this way comes!
Show of hands, who else is ready for Autumn? šš»āāļø
Do you, like me, lose your crojo in the warmer months? When itās too hot to work on blankets and sweaters, find some more summery makes to get your creativity flowing!
The Sunset Boulevard top, modelled here by my fabulous tester Hannah, is just such a make; using only a few hanks of yarn and working up in no time thanks to its light and airy stitch pattern.
Get the size-inclusive pattern on Ravelry to get warm-weather stitching!
Whilst the majority of my testers chose bright and bold colours for their Sunset Boulevard Top, how good do these more āneutralā versions look?!
When it comes to making for yourself, do you prefer bolds or neutrals? And hereās the more important question; do the colours of the samples ever sway your decision (in either direction) to buy the pattern or not? Iād love to know if so!
Time for another texture shot! Iām on to the back panel now, then I just need to do the waist band, the peplum, and the neckline. Oh, and the sleeves. Cripes, thatās a lot š
The real question; will I get it done in time to wear to Stitch up Chicago in April?
Yes or no? (And if someone makes it a bet, it might be just the motivation I need š)
