Taking you down memory lane:
It is not lost on us that Taita Taveta University - Voi Club elevated the university to stardom in 2022, winning the 2022 National BIC Education Challenge for all universities in Kenya by presenting an innovative project on reusing plastic bottles to make multipurpose cushions nicknamed Ottoman.
Under Enactus, our student members made TTU shine at the Kenya Mining Week National Essay Competition of 2023, producing the winner and second runner-up.
In 2022, again, Enactus student members emerged second in the Esri Eastern Africa Geogeek Mapp Challenge on GIS story maps, by articulating the plight of conservation in the Tsavo under a compelling title, The Bleeding Tsavo.

We are elated to have the Director, Kenya, coming to visit our university, Taita Taveta University - Voi, on Monday, 7th March 2022. as a centre of excellence established in 2016 with DAAD support will benefit from the deliberations, and so will the CEMEREM students scheduled to graduate this year. members EnactusKenya Ttu are encouraged to attend and learn more about the DAAD scholarships available for further STEM studies.
As we approach the closing ceremony of the 1st CEMEREM/DAAD Alumni Seminar hosted by Taita Taveta University - Voi, we can look back on a rich and phenomenal series of technical sessions and field visits that exposed postgraduate students (in mining engineering, environmental engineering and natural resource management) from Kenya, Cameroon, Uganda, Pakistan, Germany, Nigeria, and Ghana to environmental challenges in East Africa. We had presentations from TU Bergakademie Freiberg and HTW Dresden on various topics on the environment and emergent technologies, additive manufacturing one of the presentations streamed live from Freiberg, Germany. Theme: An environmental management system for Taita Taveta County as a pilot project for East Africa
Hosted at Taita Taveta University, the Kenyan-German Centre of Excellence for Mining, Environmental Engineering and Resource Management (CEMEREM) has come of age and is elated to hold its inaugural alumni seminar in Voi, Kenya, over the period 12 - 18 December 2021. Presentations will take place 13 - 15 December, followed by lab visits and field excursions.
Launched in 2016 with funds from the DAAD, CEMEREM was premised on the urgent need to meet the growing deficit in practice-oriented resources engineers and natural resource managers in East Africa, the first one in the league of DAAD Centres of African Excellence to be engineering-oriented.

CEMEREM is a joint project between Taita Taveta University – Kenya, TU Bergakademie Freiberg – Germany and University of Applied Sciences Dresden – Germany. The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs through DAAD.
Objectives:
1. Develop and improve curricula for new and existing academic programmes ( Bachelor of Science, Master of Science and Postgraduate).
2 Educate and train a new generation of mining, process and environmental engineers and resource managers for industry and government.
3. Provide continuous education and training for engineers and managers in the industry.
4. Educate and train lecturers at TTU.
5. Network with industry and governments in the region in quality assurance for education, training and research.
6. Integrate sustainability concepts (societal, environmental, spatial and economic) into the educational, implementation framework of the training, research and projects.
