8th May 2020

Dear Parishioners,

thanks to your contributions in terms of Sadaka and Matega, during the month of April we have been able to deal with the increasing lack of food that is affecting many needy people in our area.

This is a report on what we have done so far and what we will be doing, God willing.

 HOW DO WE GO ABOUT IT?

Every Monday, CWA representatives together with the Missionary Sisters of Saint Charles and the Social Worker attend to the distribution of food from 8am to 11am.
The needy people after clearance at the gates are asked to wait in front of the church while keeping the safety distance. We follow a procedure where we give priority to those who are known and have been enlisted to receive support.

When called, a person is given a “food pack”, whose content usually is:
-Maize Flour (3 packets)
-Wheat Flour (2 packets)
-Cooking Oil (1 liter, or 500 ml according to availability)
-Rice (1 Kg)
-Beans/Ndengu (1 Kg)
-Salt (200 g)
-1 cabbage
-Sugar (1 Kg)
-Toilet Paper (when available)
-Milk (when available)
-Tea leaves (when available)

Previously the food pack would have been enough to help a family for one month, but the current situation pushes many people to ask for extra-support twice or three times a month.

 HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE SUPPORTED?

So far, we have been able to give 65 food packs every Monday for the whole of April.
The total number of the people in the list amounts to 134.

 WHAT’S NEXT?

Having received some suggestions from the Jumuiyas and seeing that the distribution of food is becoming a “major work” in the Parish, it has become necessary to improve the way we receive and store goods.
From this week on, the Fathers will directly contact the Officials of the Jumuiyas that would have animated Mass during normal time, guiding them on specific food donations in order to keep the food stocks balanced.

Your charity is the engine of this initiative: you should always feel free to give what you can afford or donate more if you wish to. The Parish will simply identify the most needed items for the week and advice accordingly.
In case of personal donations, we invite you to focus on the items mentioned above.

In this period, it might be possible for some Parishioners to face major challenges connected with daily sustenance. In that case, we invite the Jumuiyas to take care of those persons or to contact the people in charge of charity: Fr. Giuliano, the CWA Moderator or Sister Monica.

 WHERE SHOULD YOU TAKE THE OFFERINGS?
The food can be delivered to the Parish Store after contacting John Kamande (Assistant Administrator).

 USEFUL CONTACTS
Fr Giuliano 0724533452 or 0737032180
CWA Moderator 0722562924
Mr. John Kamande 0725160160

Thanking you for your continuous support,

We bless you
