Some folks have to work hard for their lunch!

I have been waiting my whole life and certainly the last 12 years as a professional guide, to see what I have captured here.

To me, this certainly has to be up there with some of the most powerful experiences, and so happy my private safari guests could share this sight with me.

I captured this on a recent private safari I hosted to Kruger Park.

Elephants and rhinos are under serious threat. Current levels of elephant poaching mean that 1 elephant is being killed every 15 minutes for its ivory!

At the DSWT, we are fighting for the survival of these species and other wild animals at a field level, through anti-poaching and aerial surveillance operations, community engagement, treating wounded wildlife through our DSWT/KWS Mobile Vet Units and securing habitats. This is only possible with your support and if you can, please make a donation today to help further our work https://www.sheldrickwildlifetrust.org/is/donate_now.asp

Raising awareness of the situation has a key role to play, as we need more people to understand what is happening and to know what they can do to help. Yesterday we welcomed Chinese actress Bai Ling, American Model Christie Brinkley and Sailor Brinkley-Cook to the Nairobi Nursery to meet some of the elephants orphaned through poaching and learn about efforts to save the species. They join a growing list of celebrities seeking to use their profiles to draw media attention to the plight of elephants and rhinos. They also joined foster parents around the world by fostering many of the elephants in our care, so as to help provide for their future.
