Exciting news!

One of our projects has been selected by and to get funding that will enable us to scale up the reach of the project in Kakamega Kenya.

About the Project: "BIASHARA DIJITALI" which translates to "DIGITAL BUSINESSES", seeks to equip female SME owners in Kakamega County with digital marketing skills and resources to help boost their sales online, and ultimately increase their income levels.

The support does not just end at financial support! One of our directors will receive one-year mentorship and leadership development by Huawei and the ITU team to better implement the project.

She Goes Digital is a dynamic social enterprise dedicated to empowering women through digital skills training in Kakamega County. Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Computer Literacy Trainer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering comprehensive computer literacy training to women in our community, as well as providing essential cyber services in our computer hub.

Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver computer literacy training programs tailored to the needs and skill levels of women participants.
- Teach fundamental computer skills including but not limited to basic software applications, internet usage, email management, and file organization.
- Provide hands-on instruction and support to ensure participants gain confidence and proficiency in using computers and digital tools.
- Assist in the setup and maintenance of computer equipment and software in the computer hub.
- Offer cyber services such as document printing, scanning, and internet access to members of the community.
- Monitor participant progress, assess learning outcomes, and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with other team members to develop innovative training materials and strategies that meet the evolving needs of our participants.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and trends in computer literacy training to enhance program effectiveness.

Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Rebecca Mungai, PMP is a seasoned Project Manager with a wealth of experience in leading and delivering complex projects to successful outcomes. Currently serving as a Senior Principal Officer at the Communications Authority of Kenya , Rebecca is responsible for proposing and implanting strategies to bridge ICT access gaps, managing stakeholders, project development, and overseeing monitoring and evaluation activities.

In addition to her professional endeavors, Rebecca is an active member of RIFEN, an internationally oriented NGO dedicated to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through the promotion of professional and academic women and girls in the field of the digital economy, especially in telecommunications/ICTs, the Internet, the postal sector, personal data protection, and e-services.

Prior to her current position, Rebecca held key roles within the Communications Authority of Kenya, including Officer in Service Quality Improvement, where she implemented service delivery strategies and facilitated development of a service delivery monitoring tool. She has also contributed significantly to the banking sector, having served as a Credit Analyst at Kenya Commercial Bank, where she excelled in customer relationship management and portfolio risk management.

Rebecca's educational background includes an MBA in Strategic Management from the United States International University - Nairobi, complemented by a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from the same institution. She is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) by the Project Management Institute (USA), demonstrating her commitment to professional excellence.

With her exceptional leadership skills, strategic mindset, and commitment to delivering high-quality results, Rebecca Mungai continues to make significant contributions to the field of project management and beyond, while actively promoting gender equality and sustainable development through her involvement in RIFEN.

Our 1st Guest of Honour for the "She Leads STEM- Girls in ICT Day Webinar":

Anja Gengo

Anja Gengo works at the United Nations Secretariat for the Internet Governance Forum (IGF), as an associate programme expert and a focal point for the national, regional and youth IGF initiatives.

Prior to joining the IGF Secretariat, she worked as an analyst and legal advisor in private legal practice, focused on human rights, media and ICT law. She is the co-founder of the Centre for Media Law, where she worked as an Internet policy analyst and programme coordinator.

Ms. Gengo is a 10-year experienced debater, trainer and judge for the Karl Popper and British Parliamentary debate formats with extensive experience from many national, regional and international debate tournaments. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Law and a master’s degree in International Law, with her academic research focused on the intersections between digital technologies and international law. She is also an alumni of the Monroe E. Price programme in comparative media law and policy from the University of Oxford and the Annenberg School of Communication.

Barbora Buhnova

Barbora Buhnova is an Associate Professor and Vice-Dean at Masaryk University (MU), Faculty of Informatics (FI MU) in Brno. Following her research career in Germany and Australia, she now leads multiple research teams at Faculty of Informatics MU and Czech CyberCrime Centre of Excellence C4e.

Next to her academic activities, she is passionate about tech education among general public, being a Co-Founding and Governing Board member of Czechitas, a non-profit organisation aiming at making IT skills more accessible to youth and women (with 30,000+ graduates). She is a member of multiple initiatives engaging more women in tech (e.g. EUGAIN: European Network for Gender Balance in Informatics) reaching across the entire Europe.

Furthermore, she is a devoted speaker and author of multiple research studies on gender-sensitive tech education. She has received numerous recognitions for her activities, e.g. being featured among ACM Diversity Heros (2021), TOP Personalities in Tech (Computerworld, 2021), TOP Women in the Czech Republic (Hospodarske noviny, 2023) and The Most Influential Women of Czechia (Forbes, 2023

Theorose Elikplim Dzineku

Theorose is Ghanaian and the youngest Lecturer at the Faculty of Journalism and Media Studies, Ghana Institute of Journalism, where she teaches New Media. She is a first-year doctoral student at Kent State University where she is researching the intersection of journalism, technology, and the use of new media platforms and generative AI tools for news production.

She is the secretary for the Internet Society Ghana. Before becoming secretary, she was the programs and Communication Chair for the Internet Society Ghana Chapter. She is currently tutoring Encryption with the Internet Society Foundation.

Theorose has published various digital rights-related articles on the following platforms: Association for Progressive Communicators (APC), Citinewsroom.com, and Joyonline.com.

She is a 2019 Ecowas Fellows on Internet Governance Alumni, an ICANN 79 NexGen recipient, and the founder of Digispace Africa, a not-for-profit organization. Outside academia, she volunteers with organizations like as the Director for strategic collaborations and partnerships and IoT Network Hub Ghana.

She aspires to be the youngest professor in new media and an avid advocate for Encryption and youth participation. She loves Yoga and brainstorming new ideas. She is a 2022 ISOC Youth Ambassador Alumni. She also works at the intersection of Internet Governance and Media, leveraging her journalism and media experience and her practice to include and encourage more media participation in Internet Governance issues and Fora.

Berta Jarosova
Berta Jarošová serves as Cyber Attaché of the National Cyber and Information Security Agency to the United States and Canada at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Washington DC. She is responsible for cooperation with the federal government, private sector and research institutions in the field of cybersecurity.

In the past, Berta was a Senior Advisor for countering hybrid threats to the Deputy Director of the Defense Policy and Strategy Division at the Ministry of Defence and Advisor to the Special Envoy for Cyberspace at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

She also led research and education projects focused on national security and technology at the Prague Security Studies Institute and collaborated with researchers from Israel or the United Kingdom.

Berta also gained experience at the Permanent Mission of the Czech Republic to the United Nations in New York and served as Legal Advisor to the Czech Delegation to the Open-Ended Working Group on ICTs in the context of international security. In 2024, she was selected by Schmidt Futures for the International Strategy Forum Fellowship program.

She is also an alumna of the Hoover International Seminar at Stanford University, the CEPA Denton Fellowship in Washington DC and the International Visitor Leadership Program of the US Department of State. Berta graduated from Sorbonne Law School in Paris and Leiden Law School in The Netherlands. In 2024, she co-founded the organization Women4Cyber Czechia to promote diversity in the field of cyber security.

Tabitha is a Pan-African feminist, Cyber Diplomat, and Founder of Digital Rurals Foundation, a human rights grassroots organization that leverages technology to bridge the gender, digital economic, and political divide in marginalized communities. She is a self-taught digital security trainer and a digital rights researcher. Tabitha has garnered extensive experience in conducting digital security training, especially for youth and young women.

On a day-to-day basis, Tabitha manages communications activities at the Internet Society Kenya and works as a consultant Digital Security Trainer. Tabitha is genuinely interested in promoting a safe, secure, accessible, open, and trustworthy internet for all. She is committed to advocating for the inclusion of more women in technology and utilizing digital tools to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. Tabitha is currently educating herself on Artificial Intelligence and how she can use the technology to create a better society.

For fun, Tabitha loves hiking, baking, and experimenting with new and emerging technologies.

Laura Ewe is originally from France but has been residing in Belgium for the past 11 years, a time that seems to have passed by in the blink of an eye! Belgium has deeply resonated with her, thanks to its charming sense of humor and the exceptional quality of life it offers.

For the past three years, Laura has been working as a Software Tester at EURid, thoroughly enjoying her role. Being part of the ICT team and working towards improving the quality of their services is both challenging and exhilarating.
In her personal life, Laura is a proud mother of four daughters, ranging in age from 10 years to just 10 months old.

Despite the demands of raising a family, she has successfully struck a balance between her professional and personal life, ensuring that she arrives at work each day with a smile on her face.

Emilia Zalewska-Czajczyńska

Emilia Zalewska-Czajczyńska is a lawyer specialising in regulations and policy related to new technologies and Internet governance. She works as a Senior Specialist for Strategic Cybersecurity Analysis at the Polish National Research Institute NASK. As part of her role, she handles projects related to national and European legislation, digital governance, international cooperation, and provides advisory to entities within the national cybersecurity system.

Her other field of interest lies at the intersection of human rights with emerging technologies, especially AI and the metaverse. Emilia is also actively involved in supporting the development of digital competences among young people – she is a co-founder and coordinator of Youth IGF Poland. In 2022, she served as the Eastern Europe Representative on the Youth Coalition on Internet Governance steering committee. Recently, she has completed a training programme as an ICANN79 Fellow.

Emilia holds degrees from the University of Warsaw in two faculties: Law and Applied Animal Psychology. Currently, she is pursuing postgraduate studies in project management at Leon Kozminski Academy.

She is the founder of Makongo Compassion Centre (MCC), a Registered Community Based Organization in Mukuru kwa Ruben Slums. At MCC, Teresia's mission is to facilitate connections among diverse organizations, institutions, and individuals, ensuring that everyone plays a role in shaping a better future.

Under Teresia's leadership, MCC operates two successful programs. Makongo Computer College offers basic computer skills training, with a particular focus on empowering girls and women in Mukuru slums.
