Happy Earth Day !
William sat down with last year for this engaging Q&A that covered a range of topics from life as a Maasai kid, to being one of a handful of Maasai locals to own and run a camp in the Mara and the positive impact of travel to our local community.
A stay with us is more than just a safari; it’s an opportunity to connect with our team and local community to learn and put into context our way of life and our place in the land that we call the Maasai Mara.
We can wait to share all of this and more when you visit us !
A Mara Sundowner - The only sensible reason to stop your game drive early.
Embark on a family adventure like never before.
From tracking wildlife to understanding ecosystems, our safari camp is not just an adventure but a classroom under the open sky. Create memories, deepen bonds, and learn together.
It’s been a bit wet here in the Mara, so sleeping in a perfectly acceptable way to start your safari.
Meet Jennifer
Since taking over the role of Pastry Chef a year and a half ago, Jennifer has been able to fully overhaul and transform our entire pastry and dessert offering at camp. Our guests often leave in awe wondering how she magically concocted something inside a small canvas kitchen in the middle of the bush.
We are driven by a purpose to invest in our local, home grown talent and provide them with the right skillset and stage to showcase their creativity and capability. Seeing Jennifer’s transformation gives us great joy
and one we will continue to celebrate on our journey ahead.
Where magic exists
Meet Amos and Twala.
Our resident Askaris and all round handymen, these two are joined at the hip and work round the clock to make sure our guests sleep peacefully at night.
Don’t be surprised by their nonchalance at spotting a hippo grazing outside your tent when walking you back after dinner; they are masters at reading animal body language and can interpret the sounds of the bush at night to make sure you are in safe hands.
You’d be forgiven if you wanted to sleep in here and miss the early morning wake-up calls.

Stage 1 - The Gathering
It’s well and truly Migration season over here in the Maasai Mara.
Over the next few posts, we will share what we think the 5 stages of the migration are.
In this picture we have what we like to call the gathering itself. Having travelled huge distances from the Serengeti, large herds of Wildebeest and Zebra gather on the open plains of the Maasai Mara on either side of the Sand River and/or Mara River grazing on the fresh grass that’s on offer. This in itself is quite an impressive spectacle. There really isn’t a set pattern or number of days in terms of what happens next as the entire migration is a very fluid event.
What usually goes unnoticed during this phase is the presence of predators among the herds that make for great photography. Swipe to see who we saw lurking in the tall grass.

Happy Mother’s day to all the mums out there !
There's nothing quite like the peace and clarity experienced during the quieter moments on safari. This stunning landscape is a reminder of the rejuvenating power of nature.
Going out on an early morning game drive can be a bit of a core-blasting workout - hanging on for dear life in a 4x4 and then lying low to get that ground level shot - so we make sure you are well fed upon arrival.

We loved this sighting by the Mara River bank of two adult elephant mums and their calves. Can you can spot the two at the bottom of the bank ?

A common question we receive from guests is if our camp is fenced ?
Our property is completely unfenced and a wide variety of wildlife roam freely through the camp.
