Tournament was launched on 12th December 2015 at Agha Khan Sports Ground in Mombasa County.
Since then, Global Youth Forum (GYF) has hosted 12 Tournaments in 4 Counties (Nairobi, Siaya, Nakuru and Mombasa) reaching out to 108 football teams, securing support from 35 Corporates and organizations from across the globe.
Testing the model in a number of fronts ie a Tournament organized by Victor Odhiambo ( Ted Dute ) in Nakuru in 2022 was a turning point for it all, conforming that the model works and that any sports lover out there can use sports to advocate for the Sustainable Development Goal of their choice.
Since its launch, many Youth have been reaching out to Global Youth Forum seeking more about the project with an interest in participating in the tournament.
Due to financial and resources constraints, GYF has not been able to achieve its project goal of (Hosting a tournament in all the 47 Counties as the initial plan according to the 1st project concept draft – Inter County Peace Futsal Championship)
Most Youth also reached out expressing interest on other sports ie Basketball, Handball, Netball and so many more.
Ladies also reached out claiming to be left out in the project, people with disabilities also wanted to be involved in it all. What a a journey of 7 years and 8 moths it has been, building the Brand.
So as an organization we had a look at all this to find out how best to meet the interests and not leave anyone behind, hence the birth of
which will allow any sports lover any where to use their favorite sport to advocate for a Sustainable Development Goal of their choice using the Concept.
Starting in Kenya, GYF is looking for ambassadors to participate on the pilot in 2023, the ambassadors will select their favorite sport plan and execute a tournament in their community between 26th – 27th August and convene thereafter to share their experiences before official launch of the project in December 2024 ( 3 Tournaments per year running in April, August and December)
