CIP was founded in December 2007 by a group of like minded rights defenders in southern Kyrgyzstan.
CIP is a leading human rights defense NGO in Southern Kyrgyzstan working towards justice and social inclusiveness through provision of free legal aid, legislative reform, provision of humanitarian assistance and strategic litigation. Our team has a vast amount of experience administering projects and working human rights defense through a number of different organizations since 2000. As a result,
CIP is able to provide high quality services in defending and promoting human rights through a number of forums, including conferences, public awareness campaigns, in partnership with international organizations and in domestic and international judicial forums. The center includes a reception area where local victims of rights abuse in the Osh, Jalalabad and Batken regions may approach our experienced staff and receive high quality, and free, legal consultations. Such assistance includes the drafting of legal complaints, initiation of domestic litigation and representation before a number of government organs. In the cases of exhausted domestic remedies, or ineffective remedies, CIP also has experience preparing complaints for the United Nations Human Rights Committee. CIP is in addition a long standing implementing partner of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. In partnership with UNHCR, CIP has successfully assisted in carrying out humanitarian operations and policy development in regards to internally displaced people and refugees in both southern Kyrgyzstan and regionally. We are proud to have been among the more active local NGOs which responded to the need of displaced citizens during and after the June 2010 violence. CIP continues to work in peace development to heal the wounds stemming from the conflict and establish a lasting peace in southern Kyrgyzstan.
