However, the recent actions of Mr. Nawat Itsaragrisil, President of Miss Grand International, have deeply offended and angered us.

Mr. Nawat's abrupt decision to relocate the Miss Grand International pageant from Cambodia to Thailand, coupled with his public criticism of our nation's capabilities and infrastructure, is a blatant display of disrespect. 𝐇𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐲 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐚 𝐚𝐬 𝐮𝐧𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥, 𝐲𝐞𝐭 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐚 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐨𝐟 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐦 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲. His actions, including the hastily arranged press conference in Thailand aimed at tarnishing Cambodia's image, have crossed the line of acceptable behavior. This incident was supposed to be confined to the Miss Grand program, but Mr. Nawat's actions have escalated it into an attack on our national pride and dignity. His derogatory remarks and condescending attitude towards Cambodia have not only insulted our people but also jeopardized the harmonious relationship between our two nations.

This will not benefit anyone, and in fact, may have severe repercussions for Thailand's economic interests. His actions are reminiscent of a similar incident in the early 2000s involving a Thai actress, which led to a widespread boycott of Thai products and a significant decline in tourism from Cambodia. We fear that history may repeat itself if Mr. Nawat does not reconsider his approach. The economic consequences of such a boycott would be detrimental to both our nations. It is in our mutual interest to maintain strong economic ties and foster a climate of cooperation and respect.

We urge Mr. Nawat to reconsider his approach and engage in a constructive dialogue with his Cambodian partners to resolve this conflict responsibly. He has the power to be a bridge-builder or a fire-starter. We implore him to choose the path of reconciliation and understanding.

We, the Cambodian people, are proud of our nation and its rich cultural heritage. We will not tolerate any attempts to belittle or undermine our country. We hope that this incident will serve as a wake-up call for Mr. Nawat and others who may harbor similar prejudices. 𝐈𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐞𝐝 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐫.
