Today, we celebrated a major milestone in providing clean water for everyone in Phnom Penh. Our ChargΓ© d’affairs a.i. Mr. TihamΓ©r CZIKA and our Deputy head of cooperation Mr. Koen Everaert joined Deputy Prime Minister H.E Aun Pornmoniroth, French Ambassador Jacques Pellet, H.E. Hem Vandy, Minister at the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation (MISTI) along with other dignitaries to open the next phase of the construction of the Bakheng water treatment plant.

This latest expansion means 1950km of new pipes that have been installed, increasing the daily water supply by 390,000 cubic meters! This will provide clean water to an additional 110,000 households and 26,000 businesses in Phnom Penh and Takmao.

But that's not all! The Bakheng Phase III project (coming in 2024-2027) will bring clean water to even more communities neighbouring Phnom Penh. This is an important step forward in ensuring everyone has access to clean water.

β€œPutin must fail. Ukraine must prevail.
And we must help Ukraine to rise from the ashes and be master of its own future."

At the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2024 in Berlin, President Ursula von der Leyen announced new agreements to support Ukraine:

🌻 €1.5 billion from proceeds of immobilised Russian assets will be made available in July for defence and reconstruction,

🌻 €1.9 billion will be delivered by the end of the month under the €50bn Facility for Ukraine, with €6 billion already delivered,

🌻 €1.4 billion worth of agreements under the Ukraine Investment Framework will be signed with our partner banks to attract investments in Ukraine from the private sector,

🌻 Over 1,000 additional power generators will be delivered from our rescEU strategic reserves.

At the conference, we have focused on more than just Ukraine's immediate needs, aiming to outline a credible path towards its economic recovery.

Together, we will help Ukraine resist and recover – for as long as it takes.
