휴먼로봇의 과거 3 년 전 우연하게 뼈대가 앙상한 사람 형태의 로봇이 러닝머신위에서 테스트에서 혹독한 훈련을 받는 영상을 본 적이 있었다. 몇몇의 과학기술자들이 안전줄에 매달린 채 러닝머신의 레일 위를 천천히 걸어가는 로봇에게 다양한 외부 충격을 가하는 테스트를 하는 모습이었다. 쇠공을 맞은 로봇은 휘청거리며 순간적으로 중심을 잃은 듯이 보였지만 곧바로 자신의 다음 움직임을 위한 고도의 물리계산을 진행하며 몸체의 중심을 바로 잡았다. 순간적으로 변한 물리적 환경에 대처하여 새로운 판단을 세우고 이에 맞는 움직임으로 전환하는 고도의 시스템에 매우 놀라웠다....
