On the western border of Laos, Sanakham is a beautiful and peaceful city along the Mekong River. It has a variety of unique characteristics including a large stone rapids (Kaeng K*t Kuo), annual boat racing festival, rice noodle with fermented fish sauce, sweet tamarind, stir-fried tamarind, banana baked with butter, banana baked with honey, and there are traditional checkpoints that can visit Chiang Khan.

You can visit all year round the route is both beautiful and easy as in the photos and you can enjoy the Mekong River view and the mountain view all the way.

- 🚙 Travel from Vientiane Capital about 70 km or 1 hour 16 minutes, use road number 11 to Sang Thong, continue to Pak Lai, cross Nam Sang Bridge, not far away, you will see a beach on the left hand side along the Mekong river.

Service hours: None because it is a natural place, but if you want to sleep in the middle of the dance, ask permission from the village administration first

Let’s go climbing the cliff + mountain in the winter. Big Pha Ngeun is located in Phon Ngeun Village. It is a limestone cliff set near the center of Vang Vieng. You can enjoy 360-degree view of the mountain and rich forests. A natural tourist destination for exercising and exploring the forest, a viewing point for hiking and climbing as well as a check-in point for photography and picnics in for both domestic and foreign tourists.

Can travel by car
- 🚙 Travel from Vientiane Capital about 130km or 1 hour 53 minutes. Use road 13 north to connect with the highway for convenience (but you can also use the whole road 13 north which will take about 3-4 hours to reach Vang Vieng) when you reach Vang Vieng market, turn left from road number 13, cross Nam Song bridge about 6.5 km to Phon Ngeun Village, the destination will be on the right hand side (map provided can help).

Entrance fee: 10,000 per person, children are not charged (there isn’t price for foreigner available)

The Temple was built in the 14th century and has been restored and renovated twice during Indochina war (according to historical figures).

The temple is located in Khoun District, Xieng Khouang Province, 197 km from Pakxan District, Bolikhamxay Province. It is about 4hrs 4 mn by car from Pakxan.

Ban Khon (People likes to call Ban Khon Don Det due to they are nearby) is the natural built island in the south Mekong River. It is not only a fabulous natural sightseeing but also historical tourist attractions. It is also living area and where people livelihood are. Tourists can enjoy and relax with the island people living, beauty of view, surrounded islands, Li Phi Waterfall, white beach, Pa Kha (Dolphin), Water activities, Homestay, fresh water and air.

Khon Village allows you to explore and study the history which are kept it’s footprints such as big ferry port (The port on Mekong river), the railway engine, bridge (French bridge), and as mentioned above; tourist can significantly tour almost throughout the year, especially after the rainy season from November to early March which is giving you the fresh air with the flow of cool and clear river, green plants and recommended to study the history of the Lee Phee waterfall to understand its name.

Travel from Pakse about 144 km to Nakasang boat port takes about 2 hours 28 minutes by taking Route 13 south to Khonephapheng Waterfall or Cambodia border and then continue by boat or ferry to Ban Khon takes about 15 minutes.

Tad Hua Khon Waterfall

Hua Khon Waterfall is a natural waterfall along the Xe Namnoi river. It is both a tourist attraction and a source of livelihood for the people living along the river.

Waterfall is located coordinates the division Sekong and Attapeu nearby (within) Mun-Housmuang Village, on Xe Namnoi River, it is also known as one stream of life; it’s naturally rich and beautiful with fresh air can travel almost throughout the year, especially during the winter months between early November to March because the weather will cool, the water more clear and cool with views of the mountains and surrounded by greenery and of course you have the "Hua Khon or human head" otherwise it will not count that you have been there 😅😅😅

Can travel by car
- From Vientiane Capital can travel by plane to Pakse International Airport (takes about 1 hour 45 minutes)
- Departure from Pakse is about 121 km. It takes about 2 hours and 15 minutes. Take Route 13 South and connect to 16E heading to Attapeu Province then turn left at route # 11 and the destination is in 11km.

ThamNong Pa Fa or Tham Pha is a nature created cave and as I have data, in the cave there are plenty of Buddha and at front cave entrance where there is a big pond with plenty of turtles live in (if you have the opportunity to visit, I recommend you to ask for more information and the background which "I will too")The cave is located very nearby Thakhek District, Khammouane Province; nearby people housing and their livelihood; The cave is one of the beautiful culture and natural tourism place where people in the region and across the country visit to worship and wishing; the place offers beautiful atmosphere shady fresh and more important it is not far from the town.

Admin understands that, The cave is located within Thakhek area at NaKhangXang village, the cave is rich in beautiful nature and fresh air, you can visit almost throughout the year, especially in the beginning of the winter season from November to March, the season provides cooler weather, lots of water within pond, cleared water, surrounded by gorgeous green tree and of course you will see lots of turtles otherwise, the visit may not count 😊 lol

It can be reached by road, distance from Vientiane Capital is about 345 km, it takes about 5 hours 54 minutes by taking Route 13 South heading to Khammouane Province, when you reach Khammuan, Thakhek district, turn left from Route 13 South heading to Nhommalat District ( Route 12/AH132) about 7.4km and you will see sign and direction to the cave.
