The minister enjoyed speaking to our women artisans and seeing their beautiful handmade products!

Refugees often face incredible challenges, including restrictions on their right to work and lack of access to social protection systems. For refugee women, these issues are often compounded by social and cultural norms that reinforce gender inequality and discrimination. Unpaid domestic responsibilities, for instance, disproportionately fall in the hands of women. Yet women around the world are overcoming these obstacles and changing norms - and one of the key ways they are doing so is by seizing the opportunity to work.

At MADE51, we are strong believers that income is a path to empowerment and that creating dignified work for refugee women leads to greater gender equality and healthier societies. When women thrive, communities thrive and we are honored to play a small role in creating this change in the 23 counties where we work with 30 local social enterprises and 2,200+ women artisans. 💖
