World Heart Day is meant to raise awareness that CVD (Cardiovascular Heart Disease), including heart disease and stroke, is the world’s leading cause of death claiming 17.9 million lives each year. The occasion highlights the actions that individuals can take to prevent and control CVD.
Heart attack symptoms don’t always announce themselves dramatically. Thus many people wait for hours before seeking medical help. That’s why early treatment not only minimizes heart damage, it can also save one’s life.

After an endless war, a historic economic crisis, an unprecedented health crisis, Beirut the Magnificent has fallen victim to a devastatingly violent explosion, just after it was rebuilt with exceptional architectural talent.

Many would give up, but our Lebanese brothers have regularly testified to their resilience, their tenacity and their determination in the face of adversity. They have always found the necessary strength, because "overcoming" has become second nature to them.

May the entire IRCAD Lebanon team know that we are at their side.

May Antoine Maalouf and Elie Aboud, my little brothers from the Levant, be assured that sadness and grief are feelings that are shared.

C’est avec une émotion sincère que nous partageons ensemble le drame qui touche nos amis de l’IRCAD Liban.
Après une guerre sans fin, une crise économique historique, une crise sanitaire sans précédent, voilà que Beyrouth la Magnifique, à peine reconstruite, fruit d’un talent architectural exceptionnel, est victime d’une explosion ravageuse d’une rare violence.

Nombreux seraient ceux qui baisseraient les bras : ce serait mal connaître nos frères libanais qui ont régulièrement témoigné de leur résilience, de leur ténacité et de leur détermination face à l’adversité. Ils ont toujours trouvé les forces nécessaires, car le syndrome de « dépassement » est devenu chez eux une seconde nature.

Que toute l’équipe de l’IRCAD Liban sache que nous sommes à leurs côtés.
Qu’Antoine Maalouf et Elie Aboud, mes petits frères du Levant, soient assurés que la tristesse et le chagrin sont des sentiments qui se partagent.
