Part 3 - The Aftermath

From a citizens protest in Kohuwala to a township at GalleFace, the movement has emerged out of Sri Lanka’s worst Economic Crisis to defy the once invincible political dynasty that has led Sri Lanka into bankruptcy. The non-partisan citizens’ movement has demanded long-lasting, sustainable, and structural change to a political system that has been fueled by corruption, human rights abuses and authoritarianism since independence.

In this three part video produced in partnership with traces the emergence of the GotaGoHome movement from its beginnings in March to the setting up of GotaGoGama in to the Aftermath of the May 9th Attack on GGG.

Over 3 months in, and the ‘aragalaya’ has already seen some of its goals met. Yet,as Sri Lanka sinks deeper into trouble with longer fuel and gas queues, food shortages and a rising cost of living, the Aragalaya and indeed the call of most if not all Sri Lankans remains firm and united to the first and final call of the movement.
