The Annual Research Symposium (ARS) 2023 of the University of Colombo is scheduled to take place on 2nd November 2023, at the Prof. V K Samaranayake Auditorium, UCSC.
The theme of the ARS 2023 is “Research Excellence and Beyond”. While striving for excellence by maintaining academic rigour and advancing knowledge, our research should have wider applicability and relevance based on our fields of study beyond academic merit attuned to the problems and concerns of various stakeholders.
ARS 2023 will be an outlet to showcase how the university’s different faculties and institutions are unified towards research excellence yet move beyond excellence to engage in socially and practically meaningful research pertinent to their diverse research domains. In true multidisciplinary spirit and instilling a practice turn, this could for instance, encapsulate (but is not limited to) the commercialisation of university-based research, the contribution of research to policymaking, research inputs for managerial decision making, to business/financial recovery, overcoming adversities and gaining financial independence, as well as maintaining social justice, wellbeing, and the impact on people, society and environment.
