HAND HYGIENE
Effective hand hygiene reduces the transmission of infection to your patients and to you.

_There five movements of hand hygiene_
1.Before touching the patient
•Before courtesy and comfort gestures(Shaking hands & stroking an arm)
•Before direct physical contact
(Helping a patient to move around or to get washed & giving a massage)
•Before clinical examination
(Taking vital signs, chest auscultation & abdominal palpation)
2.Before clean or aseptic procedure
•Contact with mucous membrane
•Contact with non-intact skin
•Contact with medical devices
•Preparation of food,medications,dressing sets
3.After body fluids exposure risk
•Contact with medical devices or clinical samples
•Clearing up urine,feces,vomit
4.After touching the patient
•As same as “before touching the patient”
5.After touching patient surrounding
•Changing bed linen
•Perfusion speed adjustment
•Monitoring alarm
•Holding a bed rail
•Cleaning the bed side table

|Golden rules for hand hygiene|
-Must be performed at the point of care
-Use ”five movements of hand hygiene” approach
-Use alcohol based hand rub if available
-Should wash hands with soap and water when visibly soiled
