𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗮𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲.

"Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation— if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good."
(1 Peter 2: 3)

Did you know that nursing a newborn is no easy feat? It is difficult - specially the first few times you do it. But as the child learns the skill, it gets easier.

But just because it is hard, that doesn't mean its not accomplishing anything during those first few days of the babies life. It is infact crucial to the baby's health.

I don't know whether Peter thought about this when he wrote this verse down about the Word of God, but it is very applicable to it!

Bible litaracy (the ability to understand and communicate biblical truths in it's proper context is something that we need to learn.

Most of the time, we want to get advice or guidance from the Bible without having to do the work of reading it and trying to understand what it says and without having to wrestle with the questions that we come across in the process.

So instead of reading the actual bible, we settle with reading devotional books, listening to a sermon or following our favorite Christian teacher on social media.

One of my mentors explained this using a good analogy. She said thats its like 'eating food someone else has chewed for you'.

Reading the Bible is not the same as reading about the Bible.

Peter tells us that the word of God grows us into salvation. Now this doesn't mean that salvation is not through faith alone, but that as we nourish ourselves with the Word of God that is completes it's work in us, sanctifying us into the image of Christ.

Don't settle for food that someone else has chewed for you when you have the opportunity to sit at the table and enjoy the feast!

What we hope to do through the WHAM journal is to guide and encourage you through the process of learning and growing in your understanding of the Word of God, so that you yourself, can taste and see that the Lord is good and find your delight in Him!

For us to be able to love the Lord with all our heart, soul and mind and to find our delight in Him, we have to grow in our knowledge of Him. Because to know Him, is to love Him. 

This requires us to daily, spend time stuyding His nature and His character as revealed in His Word.
