The wreck of Nelson's ship in Unawatuna has become a popular tourist attraction in Sri Lanka.

The story goes that in 1782, a British naval fleet under the command of Admiral Sir Edward Hughes was en route to Trincomalee when it encountered a French fleet near Galle. During the ensuing battle, one of the British ships, the HMS Worcester, was badly damaged and had to be scuttled off the coast of Unawatuna.โ›ด

Today, the remains of the shipwreck lie in shallow waters just off the coast of Unawatuna, attracting divers and snorkelers from around the world.
