30 law enforcement personnel attended Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training here in Anchorage last week. CITs are an incredibly important resource for all communities to have. CIT are the specially trained professionals who respond to calls for service involving those who are suffering from a mental health crisis. One of the goals of CIT is to help keep people with mental illness out of jail and in treatment so they may have a clear path to recovery.
The week-long training ended with a graduation ceremony. Multiple agencies and units participated to include Ketchikan PD, Kenai PD, Department of Corrections (DOC) Probation, DOC Pretrial, Veterans Affairs PD, JBER PD, APD Patrol, APD Dispatch, APD Mobile Intervention Team (MIT), USAF 268th SFS, Anchorage Airport PD, and DOC HARS.
