Message of appreciation from Patrick N.Saye, President—MONSU.

March 19, 2024.

Today marks my two-year mandate, overwhelmingly bestowed upon me and my leadership by the students of Montserrado County through a rigorous and democratic election.

With the grace of the Almighty God 🙏, I, alongside my dedicated team, was elected by the students of Montserrado County on March 19, 2022, as leaders of the Montserrado County Students' Union (MONSU), the largest auxiliary of the Liberia National Students Union (LINSU). Leading MONSU has been a cherished responsibility, not taken lightly, as it entails serving as the president of thousands of students within the county.

Throughout my tenure, we've encountered internal conflicts, which we've diligently worked to mitigate in recent months.

To those outside propagating negativity towards our leadership, I urge a change in perspective. Leading an institution like LINSU, where I serve as county president, is akin to playing a checker game: from the sidelines, all the spaces on the board seem visible, but once seated at the board, challenges become apparent.

The journey post-election hasn't been easy; even getting our comrades to work has been challenging due to financial constraints. When presenting proposals to county officials, discussions often veer into personal anecdotes or political interests, which I cannot entertain as MONSU's mandate isn't for personal gain but for the betterment of the student body.

I implore our committed comrades of Montserrado to continue their mobilization efforts as LINSU leadership diligently works towards organizing a congress. The authority to call for elections lies with the leadership of the 15 counties of LINSU, member universities, and the National Executive Committee (NEC).

Now, I express my heartfelt gratitude to the institutions that have been instrumental in my journey:

Firstly, I extend my appreciation to the students of various Catholic schools in the county, particularly the students of Don Bosco Technical High School, for their unwavering support from the onset of the election until its culmination.

Secondly, I thank the leadership of the Montserrado County Secondary Schools (MCSS) Students Union, the 24 MCSS schools, and the superintendent for standing by me during my struggle.

Thirdly, I extend my gratitude to all Islamic institutions that supported me, transcending religious barriers, including former President Abubakar H. Sow of the United Dawan Islamic High School and other faith-based and non-faith-based institutions.

Lastly, I express my gratitude to the leaders, brothers, and sisters of the Revolutionary Vanguard Student Unification Party for rallying behind me throughout my journey to become MONSU president.

The Liberia National Students’ Union (LINSU), its partners, and sponsors are pleased to commend Grand Gedeh and Montserrado county respectively for making it through to the Grand Finale of the National County Academic Meet-2023.

Henceforth, we want to inform the general public that this most anticipated ‘Quiz Classico’ is postponed to the 30th of July, 2023, with the venue to be announced tomorrow at about noon time.
This decision was reached by consent of the two finalists, and the organizers, and it is an effort to buy time for both teams to make adequate preparation and mobilization.
