National Coordination AWCY -Liberia

Welcome to the official page of the National Coordination of Association of Working Children and Youth (AWCY-LIBERIA).

The Coordination is made up of children and young people who have not had the opportunity to go to school or who have come out too quickly for various reasons (poverty, congestion, etc.). These children and young people had to choose to work to help their families and relieve them of the burden of their care. They aspire to study, to prepare for their future, and to contribute to the development o

June 16, 2023 Day of the African Child celebration held by the AWCYs of Liberia in Grand Capemount county under the theme โ€œMy rights, my voiceโ€.

The day was celebrated in order to raise awareness on the rights of African children; and in honor of those who lost their lives in South Africa ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ 1976; in the fight for the rights African Children enjoy today.
Also, the program raised an awareness on the video and the 12 rights of the AWCY;

Using the video for learning and discussion, 20 plus AWCYs, parents, and local community leaders were educated on the 12 rights, the work of the associations, as well as the role of the community to ensure that working and vulnerable children are protected.

A salute to our heroes and leaders of the AMWCY who ensured that the rights of children are being taught and respected. ๐Ÿ‘

NCAWCY โ€” Liberia Second Executive Managerial Committee Meeting 2021:

-- Held at the Head Office of NCAWCY โ€”Liberia, Brewerville City, 2rd October 2021.

We, the Members of the Executive Managerial Committee representing our associations, namely; Tubmanburg, Sinji, Central Monrovia, and Brewerville Cities; met on October 2, 2021, and were accompanied by the National Coordination Officials. Our meeting focused on the below issues and along with a developed role map submitted to the National Coordination for joint implementation;

1. We evaluated the Organizations activities impacts for the previous months and documented challenges and recommendations to address or mitigate these issues faced by grassroots groups;

2. From the evaluation, we took lessons learned, recommendations, and drafted concrete actions/activities and budget for the end of the year implementation; and

3. We also established a team of three persons, headed by a girl to lead the mobilization of resources for support towards the implementation of upcoming activities. This team shall be accompanied by the National Coordination Officials.

Technical Support Visits to grassroots groups leadership were conducted before the EMC meeting โ€” where we interacted and well-received feedback from them on their challenges, priority areas, and recommendations. These exchanges guided our thoughts and established solid foundations upon which we took the above-mentioned decisions/actions.

The EMC is the Organizations Technical and highest decision-making body organized by 5 children / representing their associations and peers. The meeting is organized at least twice a year.
