A message to every Liberian in and around the world.

Dear fellow citizens,

Please be aware that I am contesting in the forthcoming elections on October 10, 2023, as an independent. This position was the result of numerous petitions from residents of Montserrado County's Electoral District #2 who felt that we had performed admirably at the legislative and district levels and should not be overlooked by a small group of people who believed that we should serve their interests and whims rather than those of the people who elected us.

According to the residents, throughout the years, my interactions with the district have transcended political party and ethnic boundaries. As a result, they are ready to massively back me, particularly at the polls.

According to the District #2 candidate lists compiled by the National Election Commission, I am listed as number eight and my logo is a palm tree 🌴 .

My fellow Liberians, during this national campaign and election period of our country, let us come together and embrace the spirit of peace. In the midst of differing ideologies and opinions, it is crucial that we remember the importance of unity and understanding.

Let us engage in healthy discussions and debates, respecting one another's viewpoints and valuing the diversity that exists within our nation.

Our discussion should center on how we have interacted personally or collectively over the years, particularly with the district, what we want to do for our constituents, and how we plan to do it. Our discussion should be evidence-based and grounded in research, with a strong emphasis on each candidate's background, including their morals and methods of success. By doing so, we can foster an environment of mutual respect and create a positive atmosphere for progress.

Remember that peace does not mean the absence of disagreements, but rather the ability to navigate through them with grace and empathy. Let us focus on the common goals we share, such as the betterment of our country and the well-being of our fellow citizens.

As we exercise our democratic rights, let us also remember the power of our words and actions. Let kindness and compassion guide us in our interactions, both online and offline. Together, we can set an example for future generations, showing them that peaceful coexistence is possible, even during times of political fervor.

May this national campaign period be a time of unity, understanding, and peaceful progress for our country. Let us build bridges instead of walls, and work towards a brighter future together.

Please see attached for your review and inquiry some of my workings at the legislature and the district level.

Respectfully yours,

Jimmy W. Smith
Your current representative
Electoral District #2
Montserrado County

The women of Electoral District #2 and Hon. Ltc. Jimmy W. Smith must have shared some common ground.

On Friday, January 3, 2023, Hon. Lt. Jimmy W. Smith attended a program that the Muslim Women United for Peace and Development (MUWOPUD) had organized successfully. He served as the program's official launcher and made a pledge of US$5,000 that would be paid within six months.

The well-organized and responsible Muslim women's group also requested Hon. Smith serve as installation officer and deliver the customary kola nut presentation to the Vice President's office on their behalf. Hon. Smith complied with both requests without hesitation.

Madam Watta Massalay Trawallay read from the organization's overview that "The MUWOPUD is an advocacy group that gained its establishment in 2014." She claims that the group's aims and objectives include promoting Muslim women's inclusive involvement in activities that enable their survival and progress as well as acting as a platform for the advocacy of the rights of marginalized Muslim women.

According to Madam Trawallay, the group will start fighting for Muslim women's rights to be permitted by their husbands to register for the national election and any other election and cast their votes for the candidate of their choice, rather than at the whim and pleasure of their husbands as has traditionally been the case, starting in 2023. The group emphasized the problem of early marriage and domestic abuse of Muslim women and pledged to fight against it vehemently.

Hon. Smith addressed the group after announcing the passage of two bills: the gender equity bill, which grants women the right to own property and equal participation in any political discussion of their choosing, and the domestic violence bill, which safeguards women in Liberia from violence and abuse. He then agreed to give the group copies of those bills and $5,000 USD, which he said would be paid in full within six months.

Speaking on behalf of the Vice President, Madam Ciatta Clarke, the security adviser in the Vice President's office, expressed gratitude to Hon. Smith and humbly asked the lawmaker to continue working with the women's organizations in his district to inform them through a town hall meeting about the significance of those two bills in order to aid in releasing them from the mental slavery.

Update:

Many thanks to the market women of District #2, Montserrado County.

Numerous market women in Montserrado County's electoral district #2 supported our office's reelection campaign on Saturday, January 28, 2023.

Reading the endorsement letter on their behalf, Ma Rose said Hon. Smith had positively impacted the lives of numerous women in the district, including through the provision of scholarships for women interested in technical vocational education, the construction of enormous concrete market buildings, the donation of money as grants (without return or profit) for empowerment, and his persistent advocacy for electricity and paved roads in the district.

Hon. James Flomo-Kellen, a former candidate in the 2017 elections, made a statement in which he thanked the marketers for recognizing Hon. Smith's tireless efforts and urged district residents to support the lawmaker's sincere efforts to better the district. He also mentioned the government-approved paving of Johnsonville and other roads as a significant victory for the district's residents as well as the lawmaker.

Hon. Smith responded by thanking everyone present for their support and including those who could not attend the occasion in person due to other issues.

He asserts that each and every district resident has a duty to diligently contribute to the district's overall growth. He cautioned district residents to be wary of hustlers and bettors who are seeking office in the expectation that our people will mistakenly vote out those who are genuinely working for the district's and the state's overall improvement. He claimed that in a typical society, no citizen would prefer to replace a leader who can assist them with financial aid and other forms of empowerment with someone who disburses loans at an exorbitant interest.

Finally, Hon. Smith urged individuals who wished to run for office to do so honestly and without relying on deceit, and he pledged to always work tirelessly for the people of his district.

Happy and prosperous New Year to all of our constituents, followers, close associates, sympathizers, and well-wishers.

Updates.

As usual, our office starts a string of engagements over the weekend. We gave fifty (50) bags of cement to the Knew Time Community's Reconciliation Temple Assembly of God (RTAG) church. At the same time that we started building a youth center at the Nickley Town Junction, Japan Freeway, we donated ten bundles of zinc to the Star Baptist School on Nickley Town Road.

We gave yesterday's owner of a burned-out home in the Lorma Quarter neighborhood near the pipeline Johnsonville Road financial support.

Photos from Office Of Rep. Jimmy W. Smith's post 13/12/2022

Construction work is to shortly begin on Nicklay Town Road.

We are happy to let those who live along the Nicklay Town to Rehab Cityview road corridor know that, based on all indications, construction work is starting up again on our route.

Several weeks ago, we pleaded with our people to exhibit patience as the government was making every effort to resume construction work on our road based on our interaction with the Ministry of Public Works and other players in government.

We are starting to see earth-moving machinery arrive in order to fully resume the road project, which is a fulfillment of what we said.

The Ministry of Public Works and the actors we spoke with regarding the terrible state of Nicklay Town's and other communities' roads are appreciated.

As we have repeatedly assured our constituents, our office will continue to work with government actors and decision-making bodies to advance the district as a whole.

Regarding the issue of energy in our district, we are also in contact with KFW and the Liberia Electricity Corporation officials. The information acquired indicates that several projects are now underway, including the quick construction of light poles and the running of cables, which will be followed by the placement of transformers and the subsequent connection of dwellings.

Finally, we would like to ask the people of our district to continue to be patient and to pay attention to us as we continue to work with the government at all levels for the benefit of our district.

The office of Hon. Ltc. Jimmy W. Smith wishes to inform residents of Electoral District #2, Montserrado County, as well as the general public, that the lawmaker will be in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, from May 9th to 10th, 2022, to attend the PGA's Regional African Parliamentary Conference to Promote Biological Security.

The goal of this conference is to bring participants' attention to some important international conventions/frameworks, such as the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention and UN Security Council Resolution 1540 (2004), as well as to identify concrete steps that parliamentarians can take to advance the implementation of both international instruments in their own countries.

While he is away, staffers of the office, in consultation with Gaflan Town community leaders, have begun the construction of the Kullie Hill Bridge (a major bridge that links Gaflan Town with Nicklay Town and Christian communities).

What a wonderful expression of gratitude and acknowledgment of our efforts.

Hon. Ltc. Jimmy W. Smith's office is happy and sincerely filled with joy in appreciation of the women of Electoral District #2, Montserrado County's endeavor for the public and well-organized demonstration of appreciation and affection for our years of engagement with them.

Today, women from all walks of life, religious, political, and tribal origins gather in large numbers to thank our office for the little we've been able to accomplish for the district over the years, especially given the conditions.

We wish to categorically state that we will not relent in our efforts to empower our district's citizens by using all legal methods at our disposal. We shall never allow our political affiliations, tribal affiliations, religious affiliations, or family ties to keep us from connecting with you.

I would like to restate my family's promise to every citizen of our cherished district that legacy is what we are fighting for, and that we will do everything legally possible to preserve, maintain, and improve it.

Finally, the only way we can enhance our district is if we all work together to leverage our differences as a strength for the greater good.

Today, our office was able to successfully deliver to the Calvary Temple Assembly of God Church in Jacob Town our pledge of 200 bags of cement as an initial contribution to the construction of a modern Clinic.

To our other churches, communities, and institutions, we are concern about all of you but due to the financial constraint, we can not do all at the same time.

Therefore, as God continues to bless us, we will continue to come to your doorsteps one by one.

Leadership by example.

The office of Hon. Ltc. Jimmy W. Smith which to inform residents of our beloved District #2 that as the heaviest weight lifter in terms of financially spending for public benefit, we broke ground and dumped sand yesterday for the construction of a Youth Center at Nicklay Town Junction While we are constructing a footpath bridge between Christian and Ballah Creek communities that will cost us over US$18,000.00,

By God Grace, a few months from now those places will not be the same.

Those fly-by-night politicians in our district who feel they can take advantage of our youth by constantly buying alcohol and other substances for them must rethink.

Hon. Smith is genuine, real, and authentic.

Our record will continuously speak for us.

Office of Hon. Ltc. Jimmy W. Smith Unification Day Message

Good morning family, from the office of Hon. Ltc. Jimmy Developmental Wongbah Smith, Representative of Electoral District #2, Montserrado County, Republic of Liberia, we say Happy, happier, and happiest Unification Day to every constituent of our beloved district.

On this day, we urge every resident of the district to continuously foster the path of unity, especially with those who hurt you whether knowingly on unknowingly.

We should never allow our political, religious, and tribal difference to degenerate into hatred for each other. Rather, we all should see these differences as the pillars of our strength to help each other.

In a democratic society like ours, although born to a particular tribe but has the inalienable rights to choose our political party, religious affiliation, organization, and association, it is only prudent that we coexist to have a peaceful society.

In closing, we again want to admonish every resident of our district to recognize in full and respect the rights of each without precondition.

24/04/2021

Yes!!!!
Indeed Hon. Ltc. Jimmy W. Smith of Electoral District #2, Montserrado County is legislatively making every significant strive for the completion of the unfinished Jacob Town Public School.

Bravo Hon. Smith for the effort in pursuing the public interest.

Photos from Office Of Rep. Jimmy W. Smith's post 19/04/2021

Authentic Information about the Jacob Town Public School Status.

Let it be made known that as of date, the completion of the Jacob Town Public School has been a high-priority issue being discussed in the corridors of government. An issue that has led the Representative to meet with crucial actors in government to include: Leadership of the House, Speaker, Deputy Speaker, House Committee on Ways, Means, & Finance, the Minister of Education, Minister of State, Minister of Finance, and Lord Mayor Jefferson Koijee. Deputy Minister Eugene Fargon can attest to the high-level discussion surrounding the inclusion of the school in this coming 2021/2022 National Budget.

The Office of the President has been approached by the lawmaker requesting inspection of the school site by the president to give the President first-hand information on the status of the school.

At this point, we are hopeful that this school will be allocated in this coming budget.

A liar can say my witness is far away, please see attached few reference communications.

We noticed a high level of naivety and delusion in the desperation for recognition on the part of some individuals in our beloved District who want to gain public recognition at the detriment of Hon. Smith's character.

Note: It is unrealistic and delusional for one to think that all anticipated Public projects such as Public Schools, Roads, Availability of Safe Drinking Water, Electricity, etc...should be completed in the first three years of a six years term especially under the given financial meltdown and economy constraints we are faced with as a country.

Instead, this school could have been completed in the previous administration that had the time, the availability of funding, and six years term.

Therefore, this government came with its own or other priorities as well among which our district is currently benefiting from the pavement and connectivity of major roads.

This leaves a reasonable person to anticipate the completion of the unfinished Public School by the government.

While District #2 Representative continues to lobby harder as mentioned above for the completion of Unfinished Public Projects which including the Jacob Town Public School, while also accomplishing Women Empowerment, advocacy for Safe drinking water, Vocational Education, Administrative Structuring of the District, Building of District Office, modernization of Public Market Buildings, etc.. which he is achieving.

Whereas, a person with a high level of egotistic intoxication, and delusional in desperation for recognition thinks that individual contribution can complete this mega Public Projects.

However, with such a level of understanding, we will take note and even contribute as well to give chance to such narrow minds to prove them otherwise.

This is how government works.
