President Weah Suspends Tariff On Rice In Executive Order #105

(Monrovia, Liberia): The President of the Republic, H.E. Dr. George Manneh Weah, has suspended import tariff on rice, Liberia's staple.

The suspension of import tariff on rice is classified under tariff numbers 1006.30.00, in packing of more than 5kg or in the bulk; 1006.30.00, in packing of at least 5kg and 1006.40.00 (broken rice) under the Revenue Code of Liberia Act of 2000. It takes immediate effect.

The issuance of Executive Order #105 by the President is in pursuance of government's overall desire to continue to bring relief to the Liberian people.

The Executive Order, which follows the expiration of Executive Order #98, underscores government’s commitment to ensuring that prices of certain commodities on the market, including rice, remain affordable as not to impose unnecessary burden on the people.

President Weah said in the Executive Order that government has conducted an assessment and evaluation on the causes of increases in the price of various strategic commodities, including rice, and that his administration intends to initiate measures to ameliorate the situation.

The continuous suspension of tariff hinges on the need to curb concurrent increase in the price of rice and to make it more affordable, the President observed, stressing that such measures can't await long legislative processes.

“There is a need for exigent measures to achieve the desired objectives of easing the economic burden on the citizens and residents to enable access to rice, the staple food," the President said.

Cornelia Kruah-Togba writes

It took me a little longer to respond to allegations levied against Mo Ali because care has to be taken to ensure my personal view on the matter is not misinterpreted as an official position of the Unity Party-as I currently serve as its Spokesperson. With that being said, I would like to clearly state that the representations below are mine and not the party's position.

While legally I believe the alleged actions of Mr. Ali may not directly violate any criminal law of Liberia and politically I believe there may be sponsored propaganda around the matter by those from the other side, however, morally I am of the conviction that his alleged actions are condemnable.

No woman should be put in the position to choose between unwillingly having an abortion or forfeiting the support of the assumed father during the period of the pregnancy and beyond.

Where the facts are established that the allegations are true, I'll encourage my boss to do the honorable thing and own up to his actions publicly as this matter has been made public.

As political leaders, we have a duty to uphold all moral standards as we would political and legal standards during our course of dealings. We serve as role models to many, some known and some unknown, and as such we must conduct ourselves accordingly at all times.

I would also like to condemn in the strongest terms those who see this as an opportunity to bash the young lady and call her names because of their relations with Mr. Ali. I admonish you to desist for said acts.

While, I believe I do not have the capacity to determine a victim or perpetrator in this matter I am under obligation at all times to speak against ills affecting women in our society.

It is my hope that this matter can be handled amicably between the two adults involved.

Breaking 📰!! Breaking News 🗞️!
Veteran politician Vandalark R. Patricks write!

Mo Ali Step Down Campaign Begins

I can’t believe that the National Secretary General of the Unity Party and executive member of the CPP, aka Corrup People Party can’t take care of his own pregnancy, but they want to mange 5 Million people. You see astray?

Mo Ali has abused the office of National Secretary General of the Unity Party and the opposition Collaborating Political Parties on moral grounds.

He needs to STEP DOWN. Public officials are expected to conduct themselves with a high degree of moral credibility. Mo Ali lacks that. He has ruined the reputation of the opposition community by masterminding the current social media gang-bullying and public abuse of his victim. This is an abuse of womanhood!

Mo is a married man or has a girlfriend that he supports 100%. He left her and impregnated another girl. Sadly, he refused to shoulder responsibility and plotted against the unborn child, who is also protected by the constitution of Liberia. If he can provide and cater to his wife or girlfriend, why wouldn’t he do the same to his victim?

How can a man like Mo plot against an innocent child? Persuading and threatening the lady to abort the pregnancy demonstrates Mo’s heartless, irresponsible and cruel behavior. Mo, the hole you dig for ley unborn baby, she jumped over it oo😂

Regretfully, the girl, who resisted Mo’s threats to abort the pregnancy is being bullied by the same crooks within the CPP and corrupt Unity Party.

They are now abusing and describing the girl as “a groom up ass woman “, and you want us to keep silent? The hypocrisy in the CPP will not go unnoticed. Imagine in this Twenty-First Century, CPP is still holding the innocent girl responsible and accusing her of blackmailing Mo Ali. Really?

These political bandits are terrible. Why would you politicize everything? When Mo was having good s*x, it wasn’t political, but when we blast at his irresponsible behavior and attempts to endanger the life of the victim and unborn child, then it becomes a political issue. Nonsense!

The power-thirsty and wicked opposition is unfit to lead this country. Keeping Mo Ali as National Secretary is the most heinous moral crime against the peace loving people of Liberia, and it’s going to cost you guys more harm.

A few years ago, the UP was the voice of women. Today, the same UP is bullying and publicly abusing an innocent woman and none of the women in CPP are speaking out. Her only crime is refusing to abort her pregnancy. Who knows if that’s the only child God has given her and Mo wants to destroy that baby.

How dare you blame the girl for not using condom? Mo is more matured, and is aware of the consequences that are associated with having s*xual in*******se without the use of condom. Why the CPP isn’t holding him accountable for not doing that, but continues to shape blame on the innocent girl? Oh is it that she refused to abort?

Well, the UP was established on the blood of innocent people. Their former standard-bearer, Ellen plunged our country into a senseless bloody civil war that killed over 250,000 people.
Today, there’s no justice for the victims. I am not surprised by Mo’s criminal plan to destroy an unborn child, who has committed no crime against him and the state. Irresponsible father!

Liberia is going to be where it is , because many of you choose to celebrate evil. How do we make progress when everyone is concerned about protecting their own? Really?
