PRESS STATEMENT FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter "~ Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The Children Movement of Liberia, for the past days, has received an alert about a 3years old girl who was allegedly r***d by a 17years old boy.

The Children's Movement of Liberia wants to use this medium to condemn in the strongest term the action of the scalawag. His deen is heinous and it calls for tougher punishment.

To every rights defender, the Children's Movement of Liberia sees this situation as a gross violation of girls' rights in Liberia. And it sees the necessity for a mass gathering to get these crimes eradicated.

Fellow citizens, Girls' rights and protections must be the moral code of our societal growth and well-being. So, let's rise against r**e and stand for justice! Remember, peace is not the absence of war but the presence of justice.

Now, therefore, we are calling on the Liberia National Police for the immediate arrest of the suspect and subsequently forward him to court.

We are also urging the Ministry of Gender, Children & Social protection to host the victim and provide every medical and social support to her.

Finally, we encourage the victim's family to take solace in the rule of law, justice is certain.

Justice is a Must!

We want to seize this occasion to wholeheartedly present to you Solomane M. Kromah as our Nominee for the 2021 Children Peace Prize Award.

Notwithstanding, our nominee Solomane M. Kromah is the lead campaigner and lead founder of the Children Movement of Liberia. He has organized and found part of a series of peaceful assemblies demanding justice and equality for victims of crimes. The most recent are:

1. The protest action against "Academic discrimination" at the Ministry of Education of Liberia.

2. Social media campaign against FGM globally.

3. He organized a peaceful protest action to demand an answer to the death of three years old boy, little Francis Mensah whom the perpetrator was arrested, was charged with "Negligent homicide" and forwarded to court for prosecution.

4. Solomane was also a vital character in the fight to seek justice for the Late Jerome Brown who died of starvation. However, the perpetrators were charged with "Manslaughter and Criminal facilitation", respectively.

Solomane has also orchestrated a series of reforms and programs in the Children's Community. A few of the programs that were executed under his stewardship as a head and the Speaker of the institution are:

1. Solomane set up an awareness team doing the period of the coronavirus pandemic to sensitized kids of their responsibility in preventing the COVID-19 virus. They also had Social media awareness with the posting of made flyers with various preventive measures.

2. He also implemented the project called: "Children must know and apply their rights", sponsored by Kidsrights.

This project had three((3) phases, they are:
•Communities awareness(Street talk, intellectual center discussion, and Campus base awareness).
• Workshop with activists to debate the Pros and Cons of the Children's Law.
•Radio appearances and others.

However, Solomane has struggled very high to seek the welfare of the Liberia Child. He has suffered and lost extremely just because he stood up to advocate for Justice, Equality, and Freedom for all children. He has consistently stood up and voiced out on the issues of r**e, so**my, Child Marriage, and extrajudicial killings of young children in the Liberian Society.

Solomane is an impeccable character who loves and cherishes peace, justice, and equality among his peers. His stance is firm, and his thirst for justice is unimaginable.

Solomane always says: " I keep quiet only in the presence of Justice and equality".

Keep moving, Children Mandela!

HAPPY CML DAY!

As we clock two years of existence as a non-profit organization, we are obliged to extend our praises, salutations, and compliments to our membership bloc and its studious leaders.

The Children's Movement of Liberia is the youngest and most independent revolutionary institution that was established by children and being led by children. This institution has stood in the gaps to advocate for several issues affecting children's rights. Rising from Child labor, child abuse, academic malpractice, and so forth.

We have also organized series of activities throughout our existence without support from any organization. For the record, please scroll down on our page and view many of our tremendous workouts.

Nevertheless, the statement that keeps us moving for the past two years is: "We have the might and power to make children live in a better society"~ Speaker Solomane M. Kromah~

Happy Anniversary to us!

26/08/2021

The crimes against children in Liberia are unprecedented.

UPDATE FROM THE PEACEFUL ASSEMBLY AT THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION OF LIBERIA.

The peaceful assembly all started when the Ministry of Education in collaboration with WAEC decided to administer the 6th graders examination on the 20th of July, which will fall on Abraham's Day. We immediately sent a communication to the Ministry but no response. So, we decided to stage a protest action which was indeed fruitful today.

Now to the point: we were privileged to mobilized hundreds of students and children across the country to join us to demand the Ministry of Education to readjust the date of the National Examination.

To that effect, we met series of directors and assistant ministers to address the plight of innocent children. But unfortunately, the meeting in the conference room turned to be deadlocked. The leaders and few members that were in the conference room left the hall.

Minutes later, the entire Ministry of Education turn upside-down. Disturbance and radicality became the option for students and Children. At that point, the Minister of Education was now forced to leave his cozy office to address the need of students and children who needed justice and equality in the Educational sector.

As the Minister walks out of his office, upstairs, he met series of protesters at his door, so he appealed that they all go downstairs to settle the issue. As they approached the ground flow, series of revolutionary slogans were chanted behind the Minister. So, he felt offended and decided to return to his office. But the Minister was resisted, by students and Children from entry to the Ministry. This is the point, the Minister had no other alternative but, to speak to the students.

Min. D. Ansu Sonii, confirmed that he had just concluded a meeting with the WAEC boss and the WAEC boss agrees to readjust the date. That means; the 6th Graders National Examination will not be written on the 20th of July. And the Minister further assured us that he will address this matter at an elaborate Press Conference.

This is the latest update from our peaceful assembly today.

Have a nice night!
