Lioli Football Club started the defense of the Lesotho premier league championship with a comfortable 2-0 victory against newly promoted Majantja Football Club this afternoon at Difa Maputsoe Stadium.

Motheo Mohapi giants opened the scoring in first 15th minutes of the game through Tau Masiu. Thabang Klaas grabbed his first of the season shortly after the opener, to make it double.

Mohale's Hoek side, Majantja Football Club who are newbies in the top flight this season, suffered their first loss of the campaign as they went down 2-0 and they host Bantu FC in the next game.

Qoaling highlanders 2023/24 top goal scorer Ret'selisitsoe Villa Thabane has challenged himself, his teammates and opponents ahead of 2024-25 A Division southern stream campaign.

Speaking ahead of Qoaling Highlanders' opener against Mahlaseli football club, Ret'selisitsoe Villa Thabane set a target of scoring 20 or more goals this season for his side. Last season, he wasn't featured in every game due to some technical team's different approaches of the games, but was still key to the club managing to score 12 goals in the league and he hopes to extend his scoring record this season.

"It's about time we bring back joy to our supporters. This season, my aim is to register 20 or more goals for this team. This year's Golden boot award came as a surprise because at the beginning, I didn't plan for it, it developed as time went by and I was able to be the top goal scorer " Thabane said.

He further explained how important it is for him and his teammates to win the title this season indicating that they are In a 'do or die' kind of situation. Qoaling Highlanders are coming into 2024-25 campaign as favorites after finishing 2nd last season.

"We need to take this as if it's our last chance to get into Premier League this season, my teammates and I are going to fight to ensure we go into the premier league." Thabane concluded.
