On March 25 and 26 the ancient music from the Puebla cathedral will resound at Trifolion Echternach and Rencontres Musicales de la Vallée de l'Alzette

The creativity of the time, born from the fusion of the European and the (millennial) Mexican cultures, resulted in disconcerting vivacity and freedom.

Le programme dévoile les splendeurs polychorales de la Nouvelle Espagne du XVIIe siècle, notamment celles des compositions des maîtres de chapelle de la prestigieuse cathédrale de Puebla, fierté de la couronne espagnole.
La musique sacrée composée pour les festivités religieuses de Puebla témoigne d’un formidable syncrétisme fusionnant les raditions locales issues des rythmes et des danses précolombiennes, les traditions des populations africaines arrivées en Amérique du Sud comme esclaves, et l’héritage européen porté par les missions jésuites. Splendeurs Mexicaines a été créé au Festival de musique de La Chaise-Dieu et a été salué avec enthousiasme par le public.

The program unveils the polychoral splendors of 17th century New Spain, specifically those of the music composed by the choirmasters of the prestigious Cathedral of Puebla,
pride of the Spanish crown.
The sacred music composed for the religious festivities in Puebla shows the formidable syncretism merging local traditions from pre-Columbian rhythms and dances, traditions of the African populations who arrived in South America as slaves, and European heritage carried by the Jesuit missions.
Splendeurs Mexicaines was created at the Festival de musique de La Chaise-Dieu and was enthusiastically acclaimed by the public.

"Für das zweite Konzert am 26. Juni wurde das Ensemble Vocal du Luxembourg unter der Leitung ihres Chefdirigenten Matthias Rajczyk eingeladen. Die Madrigalisten werden abwechselnd mit den
eingeladenen Stadtpfeiffern „Renaissance pur“ aus Deutschland,
England, Frankreich, Italien und Spanien vortragen. Außerdem wird Jean Beurlet als Schauspieler die Verbindung zu den einzelnen Teilen herstellen. Dieses Konzert soll im Festsaal Vic Abens stattfinden."
