• Our cutter suction dredger Willem van Rubroeck reached a historic peak – or should we say ultimate low? By dredging to a record depth of 41.94 meters for Eoliennes en Mer Iles d’Yeu et de Noirmoutier wind farm, a French project developed by Ocean Winds (an ENGIE and EDPR joint-venture). This achievement highlights the advanced capabilities of our fleet and sets a new standard for dredging in challenging conditions. 🌊 💪

In France, we are currently working on the Offshore wind project Eoliennes en mer Îles d’Yeu et de Noirmoutier. Willem van Rubroeck was responsible for preparing the seabed to facilitate safe jack-up operations for the offshore jack-up installation vessel Vole au Vent, which will install 61 wind turbine generators off the coast of Pays de la Loire, between the islands of Yeu and Noirmoutier.

• There's the Olympic Games.🔥
And then there's the Jan De Nul Games. 🔥🔥🔥

Throughout 2024, teams of our offices, warehouses and sites will compete against each other in five disciplines: 🏀 +🤸🏿‍♀️ +🚣🏼 +🏃🏾+🚴🏼‍♀️.

The challenge? Put as many (kilo)metres on the counter as possible, thus raising a penny for charity.

Let's do this!

• Introducing you to William Thomson, our second XL cable-laying vessel. Earlier this year, we ordered this remarkable vessel, today we reveal her name. ✨

William Thomson will be the identical twin of our previously ordered Fleeming Jenkin. Both vessels are fittingly named after renowned 19th-century scientists who are considered forerunners of the offshore cable industry.

With these two new powerhouses, we will be able to connect countries and continents over longer distances. This will enhance the use of green energy and pave the way for a global energy transition. 👉https://www.jandenul.com/news/meet-william-thomson-fleeming-jenkins-sister-vessel

• We are helping to connect the dots between the wind-swept coasts of Ireland and Great Britain at the Greenlink project. Because it's not just about generating energy; it's also about linking the electricity grids of countries to exchange it.⚡

We installed a 160-kilometre interconnector cable. It consists of two high-voltage DC cables and one fibre optic cable bundled together. Offshore Project Engineer Lieselot briefly explains how we installed this DC cable bundle, a first, in our Focus e-magazine. 👇

• From trainee to skilled formworker in only a year: meet David. 💪👷

David, a vibrant young man from Antwerp, discovered his passion for formwork at VDAB's 2023 'Doedagen'. Fast forward ten months, after an outstanding internship, he secured a full-time position with us!

That his trajectory is inspiring is the least you can say – from learning multiple construction roles to earning his Manitou certification. His next goal? Operating a construction crane. And we are confident that will be fine too because he already showed where passion and determination can lead.

Interested in a job in construction? Please do! We're always looking for motivated, outdoor-loving team players! 🙏 👉https://jobs.jandenul.com/nl

• Dubai, home to our largest logistics and technical hub, has been silently playing a pivotal role in our projects for years. High time to shine a spotlight on this vital part of our operation! With over 400 skilled people repairing, storing, and preparing equipment from all over the world for future endeavours, the hub ensures that all our projects in surrounding regions kick off smoothly. 👷 🏗️

Kris, Thumilan, Rafeeqe and Vincent explain how we manage our biggest hub in the world. And how it currently plays a central role in one of our major projects in the region now. 👇

• Exploring new horizons while staying connected to what's familiar: colleague Vincent explains why so many of our colleagues find joy in working abroad. From Colombia and Costa Rica to Argentina, and now in Panama as an Area Controller, Vincent's journey reflects a deep passion for international work. Although an overseas job seemed far-fetched during his Finance studies, he has well and truly caught the international bug.

"In my opinion, working abroad for a Belgian employer combines the best of both cultures. There is still the connection with your roots, and you find sustenance in local challenges. Living and working at the cusp of two cultures is a major added value for me", Vincent explains.

• Yesterday, we sent out an aerial work platform for a special mission! This time, it wasn't for building, but to ring three young storks in Mespelare with Natuurpunt groot Aalst. 🏗️ 🐣

By tracking their migrations, scientists can learn more about these native birds once they leave the nest. With our support, we’re helping protect local wildlife and boosting biodiversity around our site. 🌿

Happy to report that the young storks are 5-6 weeks old and thriving!

• Rebuilding a highway over train tracks with minimal hindrance to traffic? Check! Yesterday, we reopened the E40 highway to all traffic 💪.

Thorough renovations were necessary to keep the E40 safe and fit for modern traffic. The Flemish government engaged Soetaert, Stadsbader NV and us to rebuild two bridges in Erpe-Mere: one crossing above train tracks, the other one spanning across the highway itself. And all this while the motorway remains accessible to traffic.

How did we rebuild these two bridges you ask? Read all about it on our latest release of our Focus magazine.

• They call it "the construction site of the century" in Belgium.

And we are part of it! Together with TM ROCO we started with the construction of the canal tunnels for the Oosterweelverbinding in Antwerp this week. The Canal Tunnels will form the missing link that completes the Antwerp Ring Road, together with the junction and the Scheldt Tunnel. Thanks to a closed Ring Road, we ensure a robust traffic system that will make mobility in the Antwerp region smoother in the future.
