NC Students Set State Record for CTE Credential Attainment
More than 325,000 credentials were earned by CTE high school students in the 2022-23 academic year, the highest attainment rate in the 13 years that NCDPI & Ctefornc, has collected data.

Summer opportunity! 🚨 Rising Juniors & Seniors interested in research should check out the NC A & T Research Apprenticeship Program for HS students. This rewarding, hands-on two week residential program in the food, agricultural, and environmental sciences, is for rising juniors and seniors in high school. The program is from June 16 – 28, 2024. Participants will stay on the campus of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, and work under the direction of top notch research scientists, and conduct independent research projects. Participants will receive a stipend upon completion and enrollment within one of the majors in the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences. The program is fully funded except for the $25.00 non-refundable application fee. 🤓

Derrick Burt, DECA Advisor, and his students attended the DECA District I Regional Conference in Greenville, NC.
Mr. Justin Burkhead, Extension Agent, Agriculture-Commercial and Consumer Horticulture for Northampton and Halifax counties helped Weldon Future Farmers of America (Weldon FFA) analyze the results of the soil samples taken from different locations within the school's vicinity. Mr. Burkhead also shared his expertise in Integrated Pest Management (IPM)
In honor of National Career Development Month, students at Weldon Elementary chose different career awareness pages to color and display on their “When I Grow Up” board. It is important for young students to be made aware and start exploring different career options early.

Students at Weldon Middle, Weldon STEM High, and Roanoke Valley Early College participated in various activities to celebrate National Career Development Day. Students wrote poetry and created and presented posters about careers and making career choices.
