Feel Good Therapy Spalding
Therapy for pain relief and injury management. massage for relaxation and pain relief
What's happened in 2023, what's coming up in 2024.
Spaldonians, and areas surrounding! I have set up this group, and I'm looking for silver linings. Stories and experiences that are inspirational, uplifting, motivating. Stuff that provides alternative perspective, raises hope, and stimulates positive psychology.
In the description this is what I wrote:
(Hello I'm Shehnaz. If you have just joined, welcome to the group. I wanted to set up this group to promote the feel good factor. Its what my business is about, its what I'm about but since I set it up I haven't been sure how exactly how to fill it with content. So, since setting it up for the past few months I have floundered alittle, but I think I might have had an epiphany.
In my work, my clients, my students are always telling me how much better they feel after their treatments or Yoga sessions, how much they enjoy dancing and generally talking about how much better life feels with the lens of positivity.
Thats not to say challenges don't happen and that we have to look at life through rose tinted spectacles, its about finding a silver lining, focusing on a grain of what uplifts you. As in "the life of Brian" to "always look on the bright side of life".
Almost 40 years ago when I first came to Spalding, I remember a beautiful thriving town. A wonderful annual flower parade, with hoards descending upon this rural part of Lincolnshire. Friendly welcoming local people. The only thing that has persisted is the friendly local people, but the Town has lost its lustre. For the first time I am seeing people in closed down shop doorways sleeping rough. The centre is quiet except for market days and even that isn't roaring like I recall it being many moons ago.
The council cancelled the flower parade, and although Stephen Timewell is working to resurrect it, I find myself questioning why it ever had to go in the first place. The influx ought to be a positive but sadly many factors are preventing that. Don't worry I am not trying to get political because I still feel that within the town itself there is so much to be grateful for and thats what I'd love for this group to reflect.
The group is about Spalding feeling good and the only way that can be achieved is if people living here in Spalding share the tiniest of achievements. Recognise that life can be as dull or exciting as they choose to make it.
What I'd really like is for you to have your say. Share your joy and spread it around. Tell your happy stories and entertain us. Announce your achievements. Turn a negative into a positive.
I will begin...Yesterday, the sad news was announced that Benjamin Zephaniah, the poet passed away at the young old age of 65. I believe he lived in the area and I was lucky enough to have met him. I loved his poetry and the way he delivered them in recitals and although I didn't always agree with his views I respected how he had his say and listened to others. He was very compelling in 'Peaky Blinders'.
His talent with the written word touched me in a very positive way and the fact that 65 is nowadays not really an age, and he was both fit and healthy to the eye, his passing was sad news. But, that I got to meet him to be directed to his work, means that I will continue to benefit from his work. Death isn't final but a reminder to remember lifes joys.)
I'm putting in the link info without knowing if it will get removed, but you never know. If you like the idea of listening to positive and uplifting stories happening in and around our town then please join the group, share this and invite others. Its not a platform for moans and groans, even though we are all entitled to that and often need it.
Its about taking a scientific approach by creating a community that shares positive psychology and applies positive psychology and collectively changes mindsets and energy around us, by sharing the positive about Spalding.
Ask those who've had it to know just how good it feels. That's why it's a great gift to either yourself or a loved one.
Few spaces still available on the Monday & Wednesday evening classes @ 7.00pm and 6.30pm respectively. Tuesday, Thursday morning classes and Friday afternoon classes at both the Pinchbeck Library and the Vista are Brand New and scheduled to begin in January 2024.
The health benefits of Yoga have long been talked about and in recent years a great deal of research has been carried out to confirm if the hype is warranted. Yoga is rooted in an age old framework that has been adapted in modern times to serve the body and the mind and even by default the spirit.
The beauty of improved mobility, increased energy, reduction in muscular stiffness, a toned physique all, accompanied by a calmer mind that is less anxious, more positive and encouraging towards a better general sense of wellbeing and an appreciation of the life we live. It even opens up our aspirations and supports us in achieving more in life, if that is indeed what we ourselves want. Having taught Yoga in the traditional ways, I have discovered just how versatile it can be.
People used to think it was for the old and infirm but footballers have used it to lengthen their footballing careers. Celebrities make it a way of life to help them remain fit, toned, flexible and to help them mentally cope with the pressures of their life and careers. Those who make Yoga a way of life earlier on, can experience a better quality to their existence for the now and for the future.
Feel Good Therapy is introducing a number of new classes in 2024 that allow those who have thought about Yoga and dismissed it, as not meeting with their requirements of weight loss, weight management, physicality, cardio potential perhaps aren't aware that Yoga actually does much more than it is credited with. In fact so many Yoga postures and movements are utilised in weight training and adapted by other formats and given a new name. An example of this is the series of squat variations used in weight training that allow people to train their legs and glutes.
Yogi innovators have understood that breathwork is deepened when awareness is suddenly given meaning through the platform of music that has personal connection and this has given birth to the 'inflow' style of yoga. Fluidity through flow, strength through maintenance of postures and the adaptibility of movement means that whether you are infirm, disabled, very stiff or alittle stiff, or you want to sweat and build muscle, or tone and get fit or lose weight, Yoga is a tool you can use for so much and in so many ways.
If you want to take advantage of that then look, at which of the brand new classes being introduced in 2024 might suit you.

To get this close to this gentle giant needed me to overcome two different sorts of fear: the first was getting into the pool, filled with dense mud and who knows what manner of filth. For someone with a degree of OCD, that, is a mental hurdle of incredible height, then add the animal aversion, through pure lack of exposure and suddenly the meaning behind this image has immense significance.
You don't see the nervousness, or, the inner self talk it took to get me here. What so many might do without a second of thought, took much more for me to achieve.
Every day I battle my fears, convincing the part in me that says 'you can't to I can'.
I re-learn everyday that the difference between the 'you can't' and the 'I can' is the commitment to feel the fear, to face the fear and refuse to let it hold me back.
Do I think this beautiful creature sensed my unease? Definitely!
Did it do everything it could to help me remain calm? Absolutely! Together we achieved an image that makes the 'I did it' reality. Everest can be colossal, even when the ascent is a tiny step.
