Friday, September 18th, 6-7:30pm PST! Don't miss it
Do you want to win some amazing prizes during quarantine, right from your home, and support local businesses? 🥳🤩 What makes winning these prices even better is that you will achieve them by betting against your own friends and family! All you have to do is engage in your wellness!
Supported by Richmond Cares, Richmond Gives, this virtual event, Bet For Wellness, will run from August 17th until September 1st 12pm PST. This event is ideal for anyone interested in learning about personal wellbeing and gaining inspiration for wellness practices.
These ‘bets’ will take form in social posts. Tag someone in the comments of the Bet For Wellness post and bet them to do something related to mental health and wellness. The bets must be appropriate and wellness related, otherwise the comment will be removed by assigned moderators in order to mitigate any concerns in regards to inappropriate bets. An example of a suitable bet could be anything from writing a poem, to running 5K. Anyone who tags someone else and follows our Facebook will be entered into a draw for a $50 gift card. The people who tag another individual can also BE tagged to enter the second part of the project detailed below.
The second part of the project is for those who actually do the bets. Anyone who is tagged will be eligible for a second draw of greater gift card value of $100. This is to promote the idea of actively taking care of your wellness, in hopes of seeing people continue to do what they were bet to in the future.
To show that they have participated, a participant will be asked to fill out a Google Form (https://forms.gle/Nt4zWXPcUApRJoha6) and attach a video, picture or any proof to prove that they have completed the bet. This will later be entered into a draw for the prize, but all photo/video proof will be owned by The Wellness Proposal with the consent of the owner (who did the bet) and credits for the media will go to the person who completed the bet. The video may be posted on our social media pages, website, and also given to the grant as proof of project completion. There will additionally be an option to opt out of having videos/pictures displayed.
Q&A:
1. Can people bet against themselves?
This is allowed, but this will not be entered into the draw. The objective of this event is also to bring a sense of community during a difficult time, so while we do support people if they choose to bet themself to something, they will not be entered into the draw.
2. What are mental health and wellness bets?
Anything appropriate that improves a person’s mental health and wellness or the mental health and wellness of others.
3. When will winners be announced?
In the first week of September, winners will be contacted by email and announced via Social Media platforms.
Essential Steps:
1. Tag a friend and bet them to do something related to mental health and wellness to participate in the $50 draw.
2. Follow the page to see people share their stories.
3. If you’ve been bet to do something, submit proof using the google form to be entered into a draw for one of two $100 gift cards.

I know it's hard to turn off electronics 30 minutes before bed, but if you're having difficulty falling asleep, this may be your solution! Your body needs to calm down before falling into slumber, so giving yourself around 15-30 minutes to brush your teeth, take a shower, do your 40 step skincare routine can help you wind down! Having a routine before bed also alerts your brain to prepare for sleep. Start with 5 minutes and increase it every night by 5 more 🙂
This may be a stereotypical statement, but it is true. Life can be tough to maneuver and honestly, we all have our moments. We are allowed to have them too. Don't push your feelings aside or make them insignificant. What you're feeling matters, and it really is okay not to be okay ❤ You're not alone in that~
Whether it's the sun coming out or a friend who asked if you were doing okay, write down three things that you are grateful for. Start a gratitude journal and write in it every day. Gratitude is associated with greater happiness so why not try it!
If you're not feeling great, it doesn't mean things won't get better. The current situation of the world, your personal life, or the lives of the people that care about you does not define the future and you still have the opportunity to make things better and take control. Never give up hope!
When you’re feeling overwhelmed, step outside and take a deep breath! Go for a walk and focus on what is around you 🌸
