St Barbara is the patron saint of the Field Artillery. All artillery units in the Greek and US Army observe the 4th of December with fidelity and commemorations, small and
large.
The president of AUSA’s Hellenic Chapter, Tom Maguire, Major, Field Artillery, US Army (Retired) was invited by Major General Kavidopoulos, Commander, XII Mechanized Infantry Division, to attend today’s festivities, at an Artillery base in Alexandroupoli, Greece.
Field Artillery officers and soldiers from several battalions of the division staged a static display of a sampling of the vast array of howitzers, rockets, radars and equipment for officials from the municipality, the clergy, retired military personnel, and
the public at large.
Hellenic Chapter seeks to attend such commemorations that serve to support Greek-American defense relations.
