: Together with Digital Opportunity Trust, we are organizing the Youth Social Enterprise Competition.

20 young (budding) social entrepreneurs have been chosen from all over . For the next two months, they will be receiving training to run better social entreprises. There would be physical workshops and remote (online) training via courses.

Some finalists would be adjudged after the training is done.

We had the the welcome workshop at Impact Hub Accra. It was interactive, collaborative and very productive.

We are excited about GYSEC, our collaboration with Digital Opportunity Trust, and the training these social entrepreneurs (+ and their colleagues, etc) would get.

6 Powerful Lessons I Learned Early in Entrepreneurship | Entrepreneur 12/07/2023

"I need more experience," I would offer as an excuse, year after year, as I climbed the corporate ladder and ignored that call into the unknown. The older I got, the louder it became — so loud in the end that I had to take action. After engaging the services of a coach and building clarity on what I was passionate about, I set a timer for 365 days, then started working backward on what was needed to set up what became High Performance Coaching. At this writing just over seven months into that journey, I wanted to share with you some of the biggest things I've learned while moving from the comfort and security of a corporate job into the messy, fulfilling and thrilling world of entrepreneurship.

7 Reasons to Trust Your Gut in Entrepreneurship | Entrepreneur 15/05/2023

Listen to advice but ignore the noise. A successful understands where the advice comes from before accepting it; advice from experienced professionals should be taken seriously, but input from random strangers should be ignored since chances are it might not have a basis in reality nor provide any tangible benefits, either short term or long term! That's why trusted entrepreneurs listen carefully before acting upon feedback received because sometimes "no" is just as important as "yes"! Additionally, if the advice does come from someone reputable, then there's no harm double checking facts provided out of precaution because mistakes can happen, so always verify information correctly before proceeding!

7 Reasons to Trust Your Gut in Entrepreneurship | Entrepreneur You know what's right for you, so trust yourself!

Training (social) entrepreneurs, etc

The GhanaThink Foundation is a social enterprise that mobilizes and organizes talent for the primary benefit of Ghana. Our vision is to build a critical mass of young patriotic, passionate, positive, proactive, progressive and productive people in Ghana. We work in the youth empowerment space and we run mentoring, networking, volunteering and training programs. Our Ghana Youth Social Entrepreneurship Program trains, supports, and mentors entrepreneurs in the social entreprise space and beyond.

Through our Barcamp Ghana program, GhanaThink has engaged and inspired many social entreprises. Our Junior Camp Ghana (JCG) program provides value to high school students - a demographic that many social entreprises target. Our Ghana Volunteer Program (GVP) encourages more volunteerism which brings more social impact. As a social entreprise, GhanaThink is looking to help grow the social entrepreneur ecosystem. We would like to see more youth create social entreprises instead of not-for profit non-governmental organizations (NGOs). We believe this would ensure more sustainable organizations and entreprises in general.

GYSEP started in 2017 as the Ghana Youth Social Entrepreneurship competition. GYSEP’s training program is run in conjunction with Digital Opportunity Trust (DOT) - a Canadian charitable organization and social enterprise that delivers technology, entrepreneurship and leadership training programs to young people in East Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, and Canada.

GYSEP accepts applications from all over Ghana and selects the trainees based on carefully considered criteria that is similar to other attractive and great training programs globally. At least half of the selected trainees in the cohort must be based outside of Greater Accra region (Accra) and half of them must be women. Due to our Barcamp Ghana program primarily, we are able to reach and impact such youth all over Ghana.

Social entrepreneurs are trained through a semi-intensive 2 month period involving an online course and facilitated workshops. The trainees are ranked at the end of this period after a pitch competition (MVP prototype fair). They receive mentorship, support and other opportunities within GhanaThink’s activities after the training in posterity. All trainees receive certificates of participation. They are also featured in various GhanaThink social media channels during and after the training program.

The GhanaThink Foundation has also continued to support them in various ways; mentorship, introductions to opportunities, etc.
