While it’s my personal belief that coffee should always be deductible, the IRS disagrees.

In order to claim coffee as a business expense deduction, the purpose of the coffee has to be business related.

This means that the coffee provided in the office has to be freely available to all employees.

Or, if you’re getting coffee outside of the office, it must be done with a client or colleague for it to be considered a legitimate business purpose.

Lastly, keep those receipts!

Finish the year strong –here are four important financial moves to consider before the end of the year:

1. Ensure your books are accurate and up-to-date. This information is vital for tax reporting and provides insights into your business's financial health and standing.

2. If you have a retirement account, such as a 401(k) or IRA, consider maximizing your contributions for the year. The more you contribute, the greater your potential tax benefits and long-term savings.

3. Evaluate your tax situation and look for ways to reduce your tax liability. This might involve taking advantage of tax deductions and credits.

4. Reach out to your bookkeeper to schedule a time for a financial review and to make sure your finances are on the right track for a successful year-end.

'Tis the Season Dilemma: Christmas or Thanksgiving? 🎄🦃

Which one do you look forward to the most?

15/11/2023

‘Tis the season for GIVING.

This is your friendly reminder that accounting guidelines for holiday parties, gifts, and bonuses are as essential as holiday celebrations! 🎄

If you're hosting a company holiday party, you can often deduct the cost as a business expense. Just remember to keep it reasonable and directly related to your business activities.

When giving gifts to clients, employees, or vendors, you can typically deduct the cost as a business expense. But be aware of annual limits, and keep a detailed record.

Recognizing your team's hard work with bonuses? Just be sure to withhold the correct taxes and report them appropriately to the IRS.

Stay on the nice list with the IRS by keeping accurate records and understanding the tax implications of your holiday activities.

TAXES just got more COMPLICATED!

If you use third-party payment platforms, like PayPal, Venmo, or Cash App, to collect payments for your side gig or business, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) wants to remind you to report payments of at least $600.

In order to report these earnings and transactions, you’ll need to file Form 1099-K.

You should receive this form from each third-party payment platform you received transactions through.

If you incorrectly receive the form for personal transactions, the IRS recommends you contact the payment platform for a correction or to attach an explanation to your tax return.

FOCUS on the top three tasks that will deliver the greatest impact.

These should be your top three priorities for the day, or where your focus should be.

Another tip is to ask yourself, “What can I delegate?” Is there anything on that list that could be assigned to someone else first thing in the morning? If so, do it!

Take action consistently and watch your productivity skyrocket.
