Hello JUDICITY 🔥
Here’s another testimonial from our participants, based on the question “How do you think corruption can be curbed in Mauritius?”
“Judicity is one of the opportunities for us as youngsters to raise our voice so that we can contribute in some ways in solving the issue of corruption. No matter how far we go in this journey, it will always be a privilege that we have had the chance to think for a better future of our country. By contributing to a little idea, we are also learning diverse matters regarding corruption. The Government of Mauritius have introduced significant ways of reducing corruption. However, practitioners in this field are in search of new solutions as people always look for loop holes in the system. These can include (i) leveraging on the importance of ICT to make data more transparent and open to the public (ii) promote e-procurement thereby reducing tge discretionary powers of politicians (iii) Protecting and rewarding whistleblowers to incentivise them to provide information pertaining to alleged corruption (iv) Tightening of the law by increasing fines.
These are important for Mauritius given the aim of policy makers to make Mauritius a finance hub and to avoid falling back in the EU blacklist. From being people not from this field, it give us immense pleasure to have been dedicating our time into such an essential project.”
Hello JUDICITY 🔥!
Here’s another testimonial from our participants, based on the question “How do you think corruption can be curbed in Mauritius?”
“Existing since immemorial times corruption is present all around the globe, unfortunately including our paradise island as well. Being the star of the Indian Ocean with its 1.3 million population and benefiting from countless treaties with neighbouring countries such as the Double Taxation Agreement for example, Mauritius is prone to being corrupted by the inhabitants whether at high levels or low level of administrative work.
A way to curb corruption on the island would be to educate officers constantly on corruption and why it should be avoided. Further, an equal chance should be given to everyone to benefit simpler and faster system. People tend to opt for bribing when the system is too lengthy and takes lots of time. They would choose to pay an officer and simplify their work loads.”
Hello JUDICITY🔥!!!
We conducted a mini activity with our participants based on the question of “How do you think corruption can be curbed in Mauritius?”
This is a testimonial from one of our participants:
'The biggest disease is corruption. The vaccine is transparency.'-Bond
Corruption is not a new phenomenon in Mauritius. It has prevalent in our society since ancient times. The simple meaning of corruption implies the public power for benefit.Corruption is the cancer that is weakening our society dreadfully.
Automation, digitalisation and cash less transaction are the first basic steps to make our country corruption free.It is important to adopt a formal mechanism of information sharing of the government in the public domain as well as a fair amount of transparency in the accountability of the government will surely help to curb corruption.Morevoer public campaign should be organised in order to create awareness.
