Repeat after me…

“Never dim your light to make someone else more comfortable.”

I see women especially do this all the time.

We make ourselves smaller to put other people at ease.

When you show up as your best self, when you are confident in who you are and what you bring to the table, that can be uncomfortable for some people.
It can also trigger things in them they feel inadequate about that actually have nothing to do with you.

I say… keep shining. Take up space. If they think you’re too bright, too big, too loud, too smart, too confident, too funny etc… it’s a reflection of their own insecurities. Not you. The world needs you to shine bright. ☀️Best advice ever… pick partners in life that are your biggest cheerleaders.👍

"When writing the story of your life, don’t let anyone else hold the pen."

The more greatness you strive for, the more people will come out of nowhere to hate on you.

The reality is that people get threatened when other people shine their light on the world.

Some people believe that if you shine bright, it somehow gives them less opportunity to find their own success. Instead of learning from what others do, they choose to find ways to undermine others.

There is room for all of us to be successful. Although we all have different obstacles to overcome, some more daunting than others, I believe that we ultimately determine our own path and destination.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.

We ask ourselves, Who am I to be? Brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?

You’re playing small does not serve you and it does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightening about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine.

So how do you deal with those trying to dim your light? Here are a few ways that I have learned from others that have helped me tremendously.

1. Be kind, always.
When being seemingly attacked, it is easy to want to attack back. Often when people are doing this, there are things that they are dealing with that may not even be about you. It can be easy to attack immediately, but in the end, how does that make you look? If you continue to be nice to those who hate you and they continue to be cruel while you are kind, everyone will see who the mean one is in the situation. People believe that attacking back shows strength, but being kind even while someone is going after you, shows strength on a totally different level.😉

2. Ask questions.
Not all criticisms are bad. People are sometimes genuinely trying to help out, and if we are not open to being challenged, we never grow. By showing humility and trying to learn from others’ criticism, it creates a great opportunity to learn not only from success but from mistakes. By asking questions, you also can find common ground. That being said, if you find common ground and then people disagree with you still based on what you both believe, you start to realize that the criticism is less about the idea and more about the person. Leading to the next point…

3. Move on and ignore.
Time is the most precious currency we have, and how we spend it leads anyone to be successful. Who you surround yourself with is often who you become. If you spend time with people constantly trying to deter you from your aspirations, you will spend more time being frustrated and less time making things happen. This is not just during interactions, but when we dwell in our minds on others’ words and actions. Don’t let anyone rent space in your head unless they’re a good tenant. Give people a chance to share their thoughts, but don’t give them a chance to take away and to deter you from your dreams.

4. Give back.
If you want to be empowered, empower others. Be the example. As stated earlier, there is room for all people to be successful, and I make it a personal rule to invest my time in people who are willing to invest in themselves. Although our work ethic, personal mindset, and what we do with what we have are factors that lead to success, not one person I know has ever been successful totally on their own. Even in the smallest ways, people always help out to help others achieve their goals and dreams. Our own legacies continue when they live in others. If you hate others trying to bring people down, don’t just complain; be the opposite.

Success does not happen by accident, but by habit. We have to be intentional in our interactions not only with others but with ourselves. It is okay to be hard on yourself and have high expectations, but that is much different from beating yourself up. It is normal to let others’ criticisms get to you, but do not let it stop you from doing something great.
The world needs your light to shine.✨

You all know how I love to share my yearly Christmas photo side by sides nowadays…that was the moment I knew (looking at myself on the left from 3 years ago), that I just HAD to change my life. I HAD to lose the weight. I HAD to be happier. Something HAD to work. And I DID find that something! 🙌🏻

BUT… I bet YOU DO NOT KNOW this👇🏻
👉I cry each time I create a fresh side by side.
👉It is a challenge for me to share these images.
👉I still see that old image of myself sometimes when I close my eyes.
BUT…
🤩There are also happy and proud tears among the “I can’t believe I let myself go like that” tears.
🤩I do get excited and feel incredibly blessed, full of gratitude and have just pure joy when I take a breath and see the differences.
🤩I also cannot even describe the feeling when I have someone reach out to me to join me. Or when someone stops me just to let me know I inspire them. I get to coach others to their success just like someone continues to do for me. 🥰
If I did not share my story, nobody would know and the countless clients I’ve been able to help and continue to coach, would simply not exist. I would not have the joy of inspiring others, even if it’s just for them to get out of bed in the morning.

I have to tell you… I get super excited to create side by sides for my clients though. And when I hear their responses…”Wow, I can totally see it now”, or “Omg no way”, or “I had no idea”…
Let me tell you…THANKFUL.GRATEFUL.BLESSED.

You see, we do not always “see it” for ourselves…the changes…the differences…we still have that old vision of ourselves. We are in disbelief. We think it “will never work for us”… UNTIL IT DOES!!!🤩

The junk food cart -$73.00

Your health is an investment 🏦 , not an expense 💸!

If you look at it from a nutrient standpoint, you get WAY more for your money in the healthy cart.

The junk food cart is a ton of empty calorie "foods" that leave you wanting more because there is very little protein, tons of sugar, carbs, fat, and almost no nutritional value.

The cart of healthy food has lots of protein 🥩🍗,tons of veggies🥒🥬🥦 little or no sugar, some healthy fats 🥑and nutrients that leave you feeling full and satisfied!!

My friends, on this beautiful Saturday morning, please do not forget that you’re human.
It’s okay to have a meltdown, just don’t unpack and live there. Cry it out and then refocus on where you are headed. Failure is seldom fatal or final.

Allow these words to help you get through whatever challenges you are currently facing.
In all of life’s uncertainties, there are moments when we simply crave solace and reassurance.
During these times, the power of words becomes a guiding light, reminding us that storms eventually pass and brighter days are ahead.
All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.
So, take a deep breath, let these words wrap around you like a warm embrace, and allow them to reignite your belief that everything will be okay no matter the circumstances.

Everyday is Thanksgiving | Habits of Health Instead of being nervous about having to turn down sweets from well-meaning family members, I challenge you to be excited about the moments ahead.

💚🥦Broccoli Salad🥦💚

Ingredients:

3 cups broccoli florets (6 Greens)
1/4 cup 2% Fage plain Greek yogurt (1/6 Lean)
2 tbsp light mayo (2 Healthy Fats)
2 packets Nu Naturals Stevia or sweetener of choice (2 Condiments)
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar (1/2 Condiment)
1/4 tsp salt, optional (1 Condiment)
2 tbsp low sodium real bacon bits (2 Condiments)
1 oz sliced almonds (2 Snacks)
1/3 cup reduced fat shredded cheddar cheese (1/3 Lean)

Directions:

Place washed broccoli florets in a medium sized bowl, set aside.
In a small bowl combine yogurt, mayo, sweetener, vinegar and salt. Stir until smooth.
Pour yogurt mixture over broccoli and stir until all combined. Add sliced almonds, bacon and cheese. Toss gently until all pieces are evenly coated.

2 Servings with 1/4 Lean, 3 Greens, 3 Condiments, 1 Healthy Fat and 1 Snack per serving.

You still need to add 3/4 Lean to complete your Lean & Green for the day.

Some examples are:

4.5 oz chicken breasts from the Leaner category
5.2 oz of shrimp or tilapia from the Leanest category
1 1/2 cup egg beaters

Prior to making the decision to address my health and weight gain, I spent years layering a mostly black wardrobe trying to camouflage my “trouble spots”. Now I love wearing vibrant colors & patterns as I continue to contend for my health every day!!!
I feel my clothing choices can now really express my personality.

5 Things To STOP Doing If You Want To Really Lose Weight

The “dieters” I speak to are so knowledgeable, they could write a diet book themselves. Problem is, they’re “dieters” and they can’t stop eating! Some feel defeated, like they will never lose weight. Others feel like they don’t know what the hell to eat anymore with all the contradictory diet advice being thrown at them in every direction. And some feel like their efforts always backfire and they are destined to yo-yo diet their lives away. So, here are some things to stop doing.

Just. Knock. It. Off.
1. STOP CHOOSING THE WRONG “DIET” AND START CHANGING YOUR DIET FOR LIFE. The juice cleanse when you like to chew. The low carb diet when you love baked potatoes. The no sugar, no dairy, no gluten diet when you like a little dessert at night, skim milk in your coffee, and a high fiber English muffin every now and then. A diet may be perfect for someone else, but their needs, their lifestyle and their food preferences could be completely different from yours. There is no single diet that’s perfect for everyone. Each of us brings our own unique behavior, personality and preferences to the table. As they say in the Skinny Jeans Diet world, one girl’s smock is another girls gorgeous couture gown! Choose a health plan that focuses on changing habits for life. One backed by Science and Doctors!
2. STOP PUTTING WEIGHT LOSS AT THE BOTTOM OF YOUR PRIORITY LIST. It needs to move up to #1. Period. Bottom line. If you want to lose weight, you have to find a way to make time for it. Pre-plan your food the night before, pack your lunch for work, chop those veggies, go on the website of the restaurant you will be dining at later that evening, schedule a trip to the supermarket in between carpools. Take the time you need to make weight loss a top priority. Find a health plan where everything is calculated for you during the weight loss phase! So much easier!
3. STOP UNDERESTIMATING YOUR FOOD INTAKE. Do you really count all of your calories? The milk in your coffee, the nibble of your son’s ice cream sandwich, that ketchup on your eggs (1 tbsp.=20 calories)? Those 25-calorie bites, licks and tastes here and there throughout the day can add up. Snacks count, food from your kid’s plate counts, and calories consumed as you prep dinner count. Your daily caloric intake might be significantly higher than you think. Use a food tracker, and make sure you are real about your portion sizes, too! Find a health plan that is good proof and has the portion sizes already DONE FOR YOU! And that teaches you portion size for beyond weight loss.
4. STOP BEING A HEALTHY OVEREATER. Don’t confuse healthy with low calorie. Several studies have shown that people are more likely to overeat foods that they perceive as healthy. Your “healthy” food may be causing an unhealthy weight gain. Ignore front-of-label marketing and get your information from the nutritional facts label. Your favorite healthy foods may be too high in calories, or you may simply eat too much of it. Either way, it could be keeping you from your thinner self.
5. STOP EXPECTING MAJOR RESULTS FROM MINIMAL EFFORT. Losing weight isn’t easy and it feels bad. Yes, I just said that.
