CML treatment hope from precision medicine

British study

British researchers have unveiled a potential new treatment for chronic myeloid leukemia.

The six year long project involving the Universities of Glasgow and Manchester was guided by the concept of precision medicine, researchers say.

Their studies identified two proteins key to the survival of chronic myeloid leukemia cells - p53 and c-Myc.

They then developed a drug combination to target the proteins.

They reported their findings in Nature last night.

Researcher Professor Tessa Holyoake, from Glasgow, said: "We are certainly excited by the results shown in the study.

"The research - a fantastic example of precision medicine in action - is at an early stage, but the data we collected has revealed two weaknesses in chronic myeloid leukemia and a potential drug approach to eradicating these key stem cells."

Fellow researcher Professor Tony Whetton, from Manchester, said: "We have found a way to kill leukemia stem cells which could lead to a cure of chronic myeloid leukemia instead of managing the disease.

"We are really excited that our new proteomics approaches helped to achieve this."

ملخص قراءة الـ Arterial Blood Gases

أول حاجه لازم تعرفها الـ normal values ودي الموجودة في المربع المخطط

الحاجه التانية هي خطوات قراءة الـ ABG ودي هنقسمها لـ 3 خطوات

الخطوة الأولى إنك تتعرف هل الـ ABG ده acidosis or alkalosis وده عن طريق إنك تبص على الـ PH

إحنا قلنا إن الـ PH الطبيعي بتاعه من 7.35 لـ 7.45

لو أكتر من كده يبقى alkalosis لو أقل من كده يبقى acidosis

الخطوة التانية إنك تعرف هل هو respiratory or metabolic .. إزاي ؟؟

أولاً بالنسبة للـ respiratory هتبص على الـ PCo2

إحنا قلنا إن الطبيعي بتاعه من 35 لـ 45

لو أكتر من كده يبقى respiratory acidosis لو أقل من كده يبقى respiratory alkalosis

ثانياً بالنسبة للـ metabolic هتبص على الـ HCO3

إحنا قلنا إن الطبيعي بتاعه من 22 لـ 28

لو أكتر من كده يبقى metabolic alkalosis لو أقل من كده يبقى metabolic acidosis

طيب علشان متتلخبطش ومتنسهاش افتكرها دايماً بكلمة "ROME"

Respiratory -- Opposite

Metabolic -- Equal

الخطوة التالته إنك تعرف هل هي Compensated or Uncompensated

لو لقيت الـ PCo2 أو الـ HCO3 واحد منهم normal .. يبقى دي Uncompensated

لو ملقتش أي حاجه normal .. يبقى دي Partially Compensated

لو لقيت الـ PH هو اللي normal .. يبقى دي Compensated

بس كده :D
