Anyone else feel the thanksgiving hangover? I don’t mean from too much alcohol either… It’s the combo of traveling and delays and public restrooms and caffeine overload and heavy food and complaining family members and cold wind and all the unexpected things… Now that I’m home, the first thing I did (after fully unpacking my things- cuz that’s how I finish traveling 😉) I hopped on my reformer, my bike that goes nowhere, and then the grand finale- BALLS!!! Decompressing my abdomen and lengthening my spine never felt better! Yay for self care and body rolling. 𝟰𝟱/𝟯𝟲𝟱 I’ll keep repeating this, but footwork is a non-negotiable for me. I broke my ankle in 2000 and discovered this footwork in 2009. The 9 years in between the accident and learning how to take care of my feet in this way were very difficult. 2 surgeries, pins, plates and screws placed and then removed. A bad attitude and lots of compensation. That all resulted in some really painful moments that usually inhibited a good time… Now I know if my feet and ankles are feeling off I can hop on my wakers and it evens out. I take on what comes my way and don’t think twice about going for a long hike. I know my limits and don’t push them (I never really liked running distances anyway 😉) I dance, squat, lunge, hold yoga poses, walk, balance and still discover things I can do regularly. 𝟰𝟮/𝟯𝟲𝟱 Last night we ate at a new restaurant nearby. Now we know we don’t have to go back there again! Woke up in the night with some serious intestinal discomfort. Put my digestive aid friend, Ginger, on my lower abdomen and she really helped. This morning I applied the trifecta of Basil, tarragon and birch to my lower abdomen and did this sequence from Punic bone to naval on the gold ball. Feeling much better now, and have confirmed I prefer veggies cooked (or raw) at home over questionable chicken prepared at a pizza place! I looooove the slow, controlled, precise movements of Pilates practice. It’s an amazing challenge for my body and mind to slow down and get in a zone of control and balance. Try this balancing practice, it will be an extremely useful 11 minutes of your day. Lookup “kirtan kriya” wherever you get your music (Spotify, Apple Music, etc) and your soundtrack will appear, all timed out. Your words are 𝘴𝘢 𝘵𝘢 𝘯𝘢 𝘮𝘢 𝙎𝘼 touch thumb to pointer finger 𝙏𝘼 touch thumb to third finger 𝙉𝘼 touch thumb to fourth finger 𝙈𝘼 touch thumb to pinky finger Say words with the associated finger tip stimulation in time with the music.
