# CLAT 2016 Paper Analysis:

CLAT 2016 was successfully conducted by Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law on the 8th of May and nearly 38000 students appeared for the entrance test. We go for the section wise analysis of this year’s CLAT UG paper.

General Knowledge-

Unlike previous years, this time most of the questions were from current affairs and a very few questions were from static GK. The level of question in this section was quite easy, so getting around 40 marks out of 50 would be considered as a good score.

English-

According to the test takers, English was easiest of all the sections. The following types of questions were asked-
1. Reading Comprehension with 10 questions
2. Questions on idioms & phrases, spellings & Migratory words
3. Vocabulary based questions
4. Grammar based fill in the blanks
So, anything over 35 marks would be considered as a good score.

Logical Reasoning-
In this section two types of questions were asked
1. 23-25 verbal type questions
2. 17-15 analytical type questions

The following types of questions were asked-
• Cause & Effect
• Analogy
• Syllogism
• Statement assumption
• Odd word out

As, this section was a little bit time taking and the questions were of moderate level, so anything between 30-35 would be considered as a good score
Mathematics-
Mathematics was the game changer of this year’s paper as there were a few tricky questions and most of the questions included intensive calculations. So, the test takers who did well in mathematics along with other sections would sure get a good college. Anything between 10-14 would be considered as a good score

Legal Aptitude –

Mainly two types of questions were asked in this section
1. 15 questions of legal knowledge
2. 35 questions of legal reasoning
The question level was quite easy and there were no tricky questions like previous year. Both legal knowledge and legal reasoning consisted questions from torts and contracts and also a few questions were from constitution. So, by looking at the level of the questions, 40+ would be considered as a good score

Expected cutoff-
According to the experts, the expected cutoff of the top three colleges should be 150+. Anything over 140 would get you in a good law college. The official solutions would be out very soon on the official CLAT website, so till then enjoy.

Executing a career in law:
In some recent years, legal career in India has undergone slight but tremendous mutations. Now it is appearing in new faces which were once only a family profession. Apart from the courts and public managerial services….corporate houses, law houses, legal agencies, legal firms and LPO industries are providing new opportunities to the law students. Now civil, criminal, corporate taxation, labour laws, election laws and other similar areas can now be updated with the emerging opportunities in space law, cyber law, intellectual property law and the non-other than international law. Law is taking its turns and is under the swift process of titivating itself. For say the civil law is now approaching towards intellectual property rights to take under its gulf with the increasing craze in the technology sector. Rightly was the saying that law adapts itself with the society.
If some Mr. ‘X’ is having interest in the area of intellectual property he may further comprehend to include cyber laws, trademark laws, copyright laws, industrial designs law, information and communication technology laws. Such expansion can be felt in the legal sector within some recent years. The degree of concentration is also increasing the scope for the lawyers who were some times before found contesting in these areas as they can now easily head towards various law firms, software & pharmaceutical companies, institutes of science and technology where the job opportunities are unlimited etc. On the second hand, the students who are wishing to pursue in corporate law may work there as in-house counsels.
Day by day, the demand for good lawyers is multiplying with the recent boost in the Indian market. Banking and finance, infrastructure contracts, debt restructuring, corporate governance, private equity deals, WTO laws and similar other emerging sectors are making the demands for efficient lawyers.
The discussion further moves on its way. One can opt for 5 years integrated L.L.B course to pursue a career in this profession. Something about the environment of the National Law Schools, it is full of merriment. Not only theoretical knowledge is provided but practicals are also included in the student’s course curriculums. Such primarily includes weekly visits to the courts and guest lectures by eminent personalities in the field of law.
Law is such a field where mental abilities if worthily applied with confidence can better lead to the best. However some of the fresh aspirants may feel a little difficulty on their startup and there journey solitary burdens them while subsequent days go on passing in a law school. However if a training course is provided under strict discipline things may slowly come under control.
Better communication skills and critical analysis ability to calculate the law in respect to the available facts in moments are the best two attributes that I have spotted in every legal professional and this is essential too. Out of the box thinking coupled with an active brain and not to forget the fast responding capability are the ones that make the professionals differ from the ordinary.
Hereby the list of top 5 Law entrance exams is detailed:

1. COMMON LAW ADMISSION TEST (http://www.clat.ac.in/): the top 14 National Law Schools of the country + Tamil Nadu National Law School (http://www.tnnls.in/) + NIRMA university (http://www.nirmauni.ac.in/law/nirmauni.asp) take admissions by this exam.

Photos from CLAT ADDA's post 09/06/2014

With growing importance for quality legal education, various national law schools acquired lot of importance. To meet the requirements of students, the the Government of Andhra Pradesh decided to establish a new Law University which by name we can refer as
Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University. This successful establishment scores the total to 15 National Law Universities at present in the country. 1 good thing that one should take note of is that the construction of the University campus at its location site is at full swing and it shall be build phase to phase. While the 1st phase (that includes of a Boys Hostel, a Girls Hostel, a Cafeteria, Academic Block and a Library) could be expected to get completed by an year or two, their are strong chances for the university to take part in CLAT by the year of 2016.
The university can be reached at https://dsnlu.ac.in/ and its campus design can be found here https://dsnlu.ac.in/new-campus/. However here are some pictures of the University constructed till time.

Timeline photos 07/06/2014

Well the whale of time has passed and the students are ready to hatch back for whatever they have been preparing for the say "one month" or a "drop year preparation".....
This is kind of obvious and I can notice that glow on your face while you hunt for the positive results on the CLAT all India score list. However discrepancies can occur (what ever way you adopt either u curl your fingers or do a "Ganesh Aarti".......however on the practical world.....little things bring the output but the hardwork. Do not mould yourself back into the darkness while you find your place absent in the individual college rank list.....for that I can say that its never too late to give the best shot. Exceptional circumstances do take place where the university seats do get vacant because of the reserved class not opting to/ not either willing to take admission in that respective college and that results into what one must grasp within time. Do regularly call the university authorities where you desired/ dreamt off to enjoy the campus life and grill them enquiring about any vacancy of seats if possible or in near future or register yourself in case of any future possibility of seats vacancy. This is not something utilitarian in nature as I can spot some students who have ended scoring >5000 rank but are at present placed at universities homed at Patiala, patna, Ranchi and even Lucknow (I understand the case with kochi and assam). Just give your luck a try for the last before you opt to scale towards a different career option :()

ALLTHE BEST
