Gouldian Finch:
The first Gouldian diamonds were observed in 1833 during an expedition to Australia led by two men from France, Hombron and Jacquinot. Then, a perilous ornithological expedition was organized in 1838: John Gilbert, Gould's assistant, discovered this astonishing multicolored sparrow (but it was kill_ed in 1845 by the aborigines) and John Gould managed to capture a few specimens: he named this bird Gould's diamond in memory of his wife Elisabeth who died a year after their return from Australia. The first Gould Diamonds were imported in 1887 to England then in 1896 to France. The origins and phylogeny of the Gouldian finch were studied by Antonio Arnaiz-Villena et al. This sparrow measures 13 to 15 cm long. Both sexes have highly colored plumage, but the female has softer colors than the male. The wild phenotype is composed of a black or red head, a green back and a purple breast. Furthermore, the Gouldian Diamond only obtains its adult colors after around forty days. Indeed, juveniles have a gray head, a beige chest and belly, as well as a bottle green back. They also have blue papillae that reflect light at the corner of their beak, making it easier for their parents to feed them in the dark..

يعتبر ببغاء الدرة الهندي من الببغاوات المرحة والمحبوبة اذا توفق صاحبها في احتراف ترويضها. و تتوفر بظلال تتراوح من الأصفر الزاهي والأخضر والأزرق إلى الألبينو، ومثل بعض أنواع الطيور الأخرى، يعرف بإسم ثنائية الشكل، مما يعني أنه يمكن تحديد جنس الطائر من خلال ألوانه وعلاماته، وذكور ببغاء الدرة الهندي لديها مناقير حمراء داكنة وعلامات وجه سوداء وثلاثة أشرطة او الوان حول أعناقهم، والإناث في حين أنها لا تزال جميلة، إلا أنها تفتقر إلى شرائط الوجه والعنق، على الرغم من أن البعض لا يظهر سوى لون طفيف حول أعناقهم، وهذا الببغاء متوسط الحجم يبلغ طوله حوالي 16 بوصة بما في ذلك ريش الذيل، والذي يشغل معظم طول الطائر.
