Founded in 1996, Yoyamay has connected more than 200 weavers
In December 2020, our beloved friends from Tagu Films came to visit our Hmawbi Indigo Farm to celebrate the old year. Here are some memories to keep with us. We hope to organize more trips to allow interested customers to see the Indigo Natural Dye process in the future.

Preparing an indigo vat is a long and labor intensive process. Whisking the vat is a mandatory step to let air into the dye to make it the beautiful blue we all know and love!

During these turbulent times, many Chin people who reside in Rakhine State (such as the Mru/Mro people) were forced to flee from their homes to resettle near Yangon. Many of our weavers are also part of this exodus. We visited one of our weavers' new home last month to see how they are doing.
Despite the difficulties of settling into a new locale, Daw Sein Phyu Khaing told us that there are more educational opportunities for her nieces and nephews here. It also feels much safer, she mentioned. She also told us that Yoyamay has been collecting her work for more than a decade now, allowing her to build a life through her art.
It's been a great privilege to get to know our weavers more. Our weavers are the backbone of our store. We hope to continue working with our weavers in the coming years.
